βrian, one sad thing is that this is the first winter of any even mild severity (it's a thing!) we have had in years. If we had been getting a bunch of snow *last* Jan. and Feb.? Hurray! But this year, when we actually want to try to go sit *somewhere else* sometimes, it's ... punishing. We're already at more snow than at least since 2016, if not 2010.

@steveo (wipes brow)
My beater truck pretty much died back in November -- sucking antifreeze into the engine, but it has a quarter million miles on it so I can't complain. My bride has decided that we can get by on one car. Only problem is her car is relatively new and has such a small trunk that we have to buckle the costco-sized paper towels into the back seat. Not gonna fly in the spring when we need about 20 bags of mulch... Plus being in the 'burbs, we'll totally lose our "divide and conquer" approach to running errands on the weekend.

I agree regarding seeing movies in a cinema. Before the pandemic, the NYC film revival seen was really exploding, featuring a wide array of independent retrospective houses. @Son of Pantz If all goes according to plan, it's set to finally come out in July! A24 has been really weird with their delayed releases-- they're only just now releasing St. Maud to streaming, which was supposed to come out last spring.

@Rick TCM has kept me sane for sure. Last weekend one of our local theaters had a pop-up popcorn sale, and I brought some home and watched Sweet Smell of Success. It was lovely.

Love 'Celebration of the Lizard'. No Burger King referenced - but it does reflect on suburbia...

Psychedelic literally means “mind manifesting.”The originators of the term and the music makers associated with the word lived during and were born into the the shadow of WWII.

Thanks, Joe. I like how the ragas kind of tie things together with Fridays with Bryce's raga shows. I am ready for the weekend! (Well, assuming Joe Belock plays some female-fronted pop music and then some polkas.)

I don't miss movie theaters so much (because rude people) but do wish i had TCM or that other quality film streaming service. Criterion Channel is gone i think.
I settle for Youtube movies or cheap DVDs. (A Better Tomorrow was the latest). The Dig on Netflix was quite good.
