Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 12:26pm Uncle Michael:

Hey there, Gumby....good question!
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 12:28pm Alex In Illinois:

I have sciatica on and off. A line of tingling going from my back down my left leg and ending in my big tow. Sometimes it is gone for months, then it will start happening again every day. I can make it stop by climbing stairs, squatting, or lifting something heavy with my right hand.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 12:28pm Alex In Illinois:

I meant "big toe"

Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 12:30pm listener james from westwood:

@Alex, my mom had the leg version, and the annoyingly erratic schedule on which it arose. My sympathies to you, too. I worry I may be subject to developing it, too—9+ hr of sitting for this job each day may or may not help.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 12:31pm listener james from westwood:

@Parq: That's how linguists get their partners in the mood. Enthusiastic declension follows.

Hello Brian/UK. I gotcher day right here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/10/14 12:41pm northguineahills:

@Brian: We have everything but joint insurance, then we have to wait for everything to be processed so she can get her visa while she waits for the green card to be issued. We still have interviews etc to go through later. I actually had a few phone interviews this week and a face-to-face next week, so hopefully one of those will go through to take pressure off our financial situation, since she can't legally work until January at the earliest. Thanks Brian!
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 12:41pm Alex In Illinois:

@Pedro G: Agreed! And if he already has been on one, then he should be one another one again!
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 12:41pm listener james from westwood:

Tell me if you think the next music bed sounds like this Ben Folds song.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 1:09pm Alex In Illinois:

@Uncle Michael: During the Peter Sarstedt song, there was something musical but unusual in the right headphone. It was as if some sound was being modulated through someone's mouth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/10/14 1:09pm Stevel:

Ben Folds at our theater in another week, with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. Second time around, not selling super strong, but its a solid show. Says Fuck a bit more than some bluer-haired supporters might like. Supposing they can hear the words, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/10/14 1:13pm Stevel:

I thought time felt tight today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/10/14 1:13pm Mike East:

I did not hear Ben Folds in the bed music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 1:15pm Uncle Michael:

Ben did the orchestra thin at the Hollywood Bowl with Elvis Costello. The both used the orchestra.

Catching your last hour today
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 2:10pm Uncle Michael:

Hello, Tate...the disco is for you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/10/14 2:12pm Stanley:

I saw the RAK label and it reminded me of all those singles from my yoof. I don't know what it stands for but I remember the records had a picture of a yacht on them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 2:14pm Uncle Michael:

Yeah, I have no idea what RAK stands for.
  Fri. 10/10/14 2:19pm Santos L Halper:

Yacht RAK?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 2:22pm pacific standard simon:

Nice RAK, baby.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/10/14 2:24pm Stanley:

Maybe not, I don't have any of my records from those days, nor much of a memory anymore either.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 2:24pm listener james from westwood:

Initials of the label owners or their secret partners in the Outfit?
Avatar    Fri. 10/10/14 2:29pm V Priceless:

STRANGLERS!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 2:30pm Uncle Michael:

late model Stranglers
Avatar    Fri. 10/10/14 2:32pm V Priceless:

yeah..this album is solid. If I win the lottery, I will, however, use my new-found wealth to lure the original band to reunite, among others.

you got it, brother Uncle Michael! : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 2:41pm Uncle Michael:

kansan in the hizzle!
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 2:42pm Pedro G.:

Give Sandinista another try Uncle Michael. They're at the height of their creative powers and it's loads of fun to hear how far they were allowed to mess around before everything went wrong. Joe's Mescalaros stuff also holds up well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 2:44pm Uncle Michael:

You know, I will, Pedro. I'll take that triple-monster upstairs with me after the show.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 2:44pm Pedro G.:

Oh and Topper may have been the best drummer in the world for a few years.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 2:44pm GeesyCreesy:

Wish I would have known about this Waits track sooner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/10/14 2:45pm Mike East:

there are some real gems on Sandanista. 3 discs is a bit overwhelming from any artist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 2:46pm Uncle Michael:

Bad As Me is a great Waits album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/10/14 2:46pm Parq:

Uncle Ray represents on the GDS stream for the second day in a row.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 2:48pm Pedro G.:

But that's the great thing about Sandinista in 2014, Mike. It's THREE packed disks of the Clash at their peak doing all sorts of things. It's like they bootlegged themselves at the time of the release. Heck, Uncle Bob is only NOW getting around to putting out a full version of the Basement Tapes.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 2:51pm Alex In Illinois:

@Uncle Michael: That is the album with the Hell Broke Loose or Hell Broke Luce song, right? From the point of view of a soldier with PTSD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 2:51pm Uncle Michael:

Yes, Alex.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 2:53pm GeesyCreesy:

@Uncle Michael: Appears so. I've been depriving myself for the past three years.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 2:53pm Pedro G.:

And if you haven't seen it Uncle Michael, take a look at the Clash doc Westway to the World. Might get you back in the groove with them.
  Fri. 10/10/14 2:53pm Steve S:

was that Marcus Hook track Vanda-Young?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/10/14 2:54pm Uncle Michael:

I'd have to google that.
Avatar Fri. 10/10/14 2:55pm listener james from westwood:

That was never no three hours. Went by way too fast, like most good things in life. Always a pleasure, UM!!
