Hi kata!
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:06pm Clay Pigeon:

Hello Pigeonnaires. Glad you're here. Remember to go back to Part I if you never heard it. I will eventually connect them on the archives.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:06pm Matt from Springfield:

I listened to the first part of this on Archive, amazing story, like being let into one of your dreams, Clay!
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:06pm Matt from Springfield:

"Do Clay Pigeons Dream Of Electric Guitar?"
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:07pm dale:

nice editing on this - old skool or digi
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:08pm Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: Well, I liked the calls and songs on the last one too...maybe you could link Parts I and II on a tape for "emergencies", and air an uninterrupted version then and add it to the Archives.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:09pm Matt from Springfield:

Almost SIXTY??!! :)
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:09pm Clay Pigeon:

Recorded on micro-cassette, dumped to cassette, then digitized with plenty of analog inserts. Very time-consuming, Dale. Wish I could hire voice talents so I didn't have to voice everything. More than that ... wish I could write! I'm fairly lame if you haven't noticed.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:10pm Oy vey:

Don't remember the first part being so over produced
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:10pm Matt from Springfield:

Who needs professional voice talent!!? When you can speed up/slow down tapes!! :D
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

In the mid-80's, a friend of mine worked at K-Mart in Atlantic, IA. One time I visited him, we went to some bar in Fort Dodge, as I recall.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:11pm dale:

'lame?' puh-leeze. and i like you doing all the voices. you're a storyteller.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:12pm dale:

oy vey - don't be a greaseball
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:13pm Scott Briggs:

Man, I'm only jumping on here to ask who is that retard on here last night with like a Chicken Pot Pie with Eyes for an avatar? He was really being a jerk and claiming I was hogging the convo. on here but I wasn't at all. Just having a grand time on Mary Wing's show! Anybody know who that troll is? What a moron. anyway, that's all I wanted to say for now. That plank. This is a democratic process, folks, not a hipster clubhouse for the terminally full of themselves.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:13pm Clay Pigeon:

Atlantic was real close to my hometown, Ken. You probably drove through it on Highway 71 going back to Fort Dodge. I went to college at Iowa Central in Fort Dodge. The broadcasting program!
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Clay - That's pretty cool. We were both from ND and I worked in MN at time. My friend didn't like the job and he moved to Denver to meet up with some other guys from college.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:16pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I love the character voices. This sounds like fun.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:17pm Matt from Springfield:

The Man on the Radio is talking just to YOU!!
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:18pm Carmichael:

Heya Clay, and hi pigeon lovers.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:18pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

The stutter a while back made me briefly envision a Max-Headroom-ized Clay Pigeon, which I would probably also tune in to.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

"I was at The Baked Potato, in Julesberg, Colorado...don't look for it, it's not around anymore..."
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

Hi Carm! And Pete!

Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:24pm Matt from Springfield:

WHOA. DuuuuuuuuUDE.....
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:24pm Ken From Hyde Park:

This narration should be written down and college kids can study it and get tested on it. It's like a poetry reading.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:25pm Scott Briggs:

I'm on Bedford Ave. and I'm wearing a trucker hat dude...dude!
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:26pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Are there muppets in this? I think I heard muppets.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:26pm Matt from Springfield:

@Ken HP: Or take the elective lit course on Southern Gothic, and reconfigure it to teach Pidge stories. Similar veins in many of his.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:28pm david_:

Uh oh I was worried the Vega'd give out...
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:28pm Matt from Springfield:

"Hotter Than July" (Stevie W), or "Hotter Than Hell" (Kiss)?
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:31pm Matt from Springfield:

"Look out! Look out! Look out! Look out! **crash!!!**"
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:31pm glenn:

hey clay, shouldn't you be interviewing rush on their induction to the r&r hall of fame?
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:32pm dale:

this is like the fantasy supergroups playboy used to posit over with those weird clay caricatures
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:32pm Matt from Springfield:

Awesome, Clay!!! That was totally OUT THERE!! MAN!!
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:32pm steve:

Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:33pm steve:

Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:33pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

This story should be turned into a comic book.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:34pm Night Al:

Muppets!?!? That's funny. I'm working the 'Stuffed and Unstrung' adult muppet show here today. Load outs in a little while.

Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:36pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:36pm sFrances from VA:

Diggin this flea find~~
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:37pm Ralphine:

My sister's first car was a Pontiac Astre, similar to a Vega. The engine caught on fire.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:37pm Night Al:

I told the roadies it would be hellarious to see Kermit talking filthy to Miss Piggy. We uncased about 100 muppets. I'll probably go early and sneak some of the show.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:39pm northguineahills:

Wait, is this the Fucking Champs?
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:39pm Night Al:

My sister's first car was a green Chevy Vega.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:39pm steve:

wait...is the the "effing" champs?
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:39pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Al, I would appreciate it if instead of "uncased," you would say, for example, "magically woke up." Some of us have an illusion we're trying to hold onto here.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:39pm common:

i knew champs. used to be fucking champs.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:39pm common:

or vice versa
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:40pm dale:

dig ambrosia - 'cowboy star' from 'somewhere i've never traveled' is a good one
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:41pm Night Al:

They don't wake up until you stick your hand up their asses.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:41pm dale:

this jazz prog noodling loses me though
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:41pm northguineahills:

ahh, the "Fucking" came later on their Drag City rec releases, which are the only ones I have.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:42pm Matt from Springfield:

Wow, same Ambrosia? That was Proggy!
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:42pm steve:

good to know ngh, i had no idea
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:43pm northguineahills:

They added the "Fucking" as not to be confused w/ the 60s era Champs.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:44pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Try a jazz cigarette, Dale. I'm still laughing at that term,
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:44pm common:

my dad always listened to the lettermen. remember letterman on electric company?
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:45pm dale:

i don't smoke pete from beantown. i've always tried to like and appreciate jazz, but it just doesn't stick to me
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:46pm dale:

this letterman has a gothic aspect though - i could hear nick cave cover it
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:46pm common:

reminds me of the association. anyone ever heard toy maker by the association? so good.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:47pm Oy vey:

Twist open a Zima. That will get you moist.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:47pm northguineahills:

I remember the letterman on the electric company.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:47pm Matt from Springfield:

It is like the Association.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:47pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Someone said "jazz cigarette" during Fabio's show and now I want to use it all the time, or at least use the modifier "jazz" in various new ways.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:47pm Fredericks:

Have the Lettermen ever been on Letterman?
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:48pm common:

!@NGH Yay! so strange..
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:48pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

There was a time when Letternam and David Letterman were both on weekday mornings.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:48pm david_:

Where DO we go from here?
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:49pm YETI BOB:

Have you ever heard Henry Kaiser's cover version of this song (Rock On)? It's great! (On the album "Hope You Like Our New Direction")
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:49pm sFrances from VA:

Jazz cigarettes in the house.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:49pm Matt from Springfield:

What about "Street Fight", Clay? That's an excellent David Essex one from the Rock On album! Joe McG's played it before!
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:49pm dale:

clay - ever see 'stardust' with essex? good film.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:49pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Letterman, not Letternam. Letternam was a terrible place where we went in and tried to correct the spelling of people who didn't want us there. Lots of red ink spilled.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:49pm dinatekno:

I still have my original David Essex Rock On album. One of the 1st album's I ever bout, I was 12. He is still performing and looks damn fine!
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:51pm YETI BOB:

Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:51pm Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:51pm glenn:

isn't ringo in stardust, if memory serves?
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:51pm Ralphine:

Henry Kaiser the famous scuba diver?
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:51pm dale:

THIS is why clay needs a three hour slot
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:51pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Last night Aerosmith, tonight Shaq. Welcome to the new Ken FM, Power 91.1.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:52pm YETI BOB:

Ralphine: Yes, scuba diver and avant-guitarist.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Does anyone really (unironically) not know?: People involved in Jazz were smoking marijuana decades & decades before Rock'n'Roll existed (hence songs like 'Funny Reefer Man' by Cab Calloway in the 30's & such)
- hence term 'Jazz Cigarettes'. (Paul McCartney has used this term more than once.)
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:53pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

We know. It's just a funny old term.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:53pm Matt from Springfield:

If Travolta released a hip hop record, WFMU surely would have played it by now!
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes. : )
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:53pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I was just enjoying your photographs, sFrances. Nice work.
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:54pm Night Al:

Travolta flies into Ocala and rolls right up to his front door.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:54pm northguineahills:

lultz, Yeti!

It's hard to hate on Shaq. He's has a harmless likable goofy quality to him.

I remember jazz cigarettes used before. The reference is obvious.
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:54pm YETI BOB:

Revolution Rabbit: Now can you explain to all of us where the term "Jazz" comes from?
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:55pm dale:

larry and forrest were the original ghostbusters
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:56pm common:

totally clay! good call!
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:56pm Night Al:

Fred Willard pulled a Pee Wee...
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:56pm Ralphine:

How many people still have their Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash floaty pens?
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:56pm dale:

i remember scatman carruthers on mike douglas - he wouldn't say the word 'jazz' - said it meant a bad thing
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:56pm sFrances from VA:

Wow,thanks so much ,Pete. !
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:56pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Wasn't Larry Storch referenced periodically on Sprockets? Like, "He exudes the icy sexuality of a young Larry Storch."
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:56pm Cubicle Carl:

  Thu. 4/18/13 6:57pm dale:

karen valentine was hot in 'coffee, tea or me', an abc tuesday movie of the week
Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:58pm YETI BOB:

Lance Loud died a while back ... it's Scott Miller you're looking for
  Thu. 4/18/13 6:58pm not:

Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 6:58pm YETI BOB:

the band was called Loud Family, but it wasn't Lance's band ...

Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 7:05pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Avatar Thu. 4/18/13 7:29pm sFrances from VA:
