Avatar    Fri. 1/18/13 9:06am DCE:

no, I mean, GOOD MORNING!
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 9:09am hamburger:

Good Morning - I'm guessing the people who've banned the music get to listen music themselves?
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 9:10am Chris from DC:

So glad to get to Friday.
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 9:16am Scott McDowell:

Hi everyone! Nice avatars.
Avatar    Fri. 1/18/13 9:17am fred:

Good morning Scott and listeners. I'm not sure what it does, but I had to put Hipnosis in my favorite list
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 9:18am pierre:

@Scott : what is the date of that map .?

@ fred : it creates a list on your profile, thus keeping you from writing all you favourite tunes onto post-it :)
Avatar    Fri. 1/18/13 9:18am DCE:

I think eventually all the starred tunes will be loaded directly into your brain--that's the plan, right?
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 9:20am Andrew Waterloo:

@fred adding Hipnosis to my favourites was the first order of the day.
  Fri. 1/18/13 9:21am Mark:

Hi Scott! Nice chill music for Fri. a.m. Thank you.
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 9:21am G:

Thanks for this Scott, beautiful sounds. Mali is in my thoughts today.
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 9:25am G:

Hey, the French government has to do *something* with that new tax money they're getting. :-)

Hopefully the US won't get dragged into that like they did in some French colonial war in Asia back in the 60s. What was the name of the country again, need more caffeine... :-)
  Fri. 1/18/13 9:25am Mark:

Yaala yaala, y'all. These math questions aren't that hard.

  Fri. 1/18/13 10:40am βrian:

I read a blog once. It was a paperback.
  Fri. 1/18/13 10:40am AZ Dave:

At a dinner in NY in 2011 for West African leaders, there was some low-key entertainment in one corner of the room during drinks. Moving in that direction to better listen, my jaw dropped when I saw that Toumani Diabate was the kora player. He noticed, and his broad smile became even broader. There was never an acknowledgement by the hosts that one of the world's top musicians was in our midst.
Avatar    Fri. 1/18/13 10:42am KP:

Morning, Scott.
Avatar    Fri. 1/18/13 10:43am KP:

Morning, Scott.
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 10:54am pierre:

In this context, this music got a very particular feel.
What DCE said, thanks for playing this music.
Fri. 1/18/13 10:58am Brian in Snowland:

@AZ Dave We went to WOMAD over here in UK one year and Toumani was giving a kora workshop like we are going to be playing in the foreseeable. The thing was he was so down to earth and friendly. Lovely man.
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 11:03am βrian:

I've always thought this piece was positively hallucinogenic. I never, ever tire of it.
Fri. 1/18/13 11:04am Brian in Snowland:

Ballake Sissoko had a new CD out next month called 'At Peace'. New Ancient Strings has a wonderful clean atmosphere.
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 11:09am jdelz:

What a great feature show. I'll definitely be revisiting this one in the archives.
Avatar Fri. 1/18/13 11:10am G:
