Listener comments!

  9:07am ranjit:

Please don't change the theme song - the only reason I wake up on Fridays is to hear the transition from "It's time to say good shabbos" to "Hipnosis".

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am Scott:

ranjit when my kids hear "good shabbos" they think it's my show! haha.
  9:08am ranjit:

Throw away your hammer!
  9:10am koshak:

howdy scott. happy holiday (post). I have a 24 bit/ 44.1 AIFF recording off the net of Hipnosis I can send ya if you need it. Just from taping highlights and all that. Kills a little piece of my soul to think of the theme changing. It's so Iconic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am Scott:

Thanks! I definitely have an extra digital copy, I just ya know, forget to bring it every week.
  9:13am DCE:

morning people. we are morning people, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Scott:

Something like that.
  9:20am Andrew Waterloo:

That theme song turned me and the guys at record store I order from onto Moncur's Blue Note stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25am Scott:

Yes! It is a beautiful body of work, those Jackie McLean blue notes. The best of inside/outside.
  9:32am DCE:

well, at least we'll be really well-acquainted with the tune by the end of the show
  9:46am ranjit:

When this is over, I might have to listen to Kurt's Friday the 13th show again. http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/43473
  9:49am JD:

Was that the folk ballade John Hardy in there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am Doug Schulkind:

Jesus, this looks brilliant. Wish I could listen.
  9:50am Chris from DC:

Yeah, this Double U version is cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am Scott:

@JD - very possible, I know what you mean, the bass solo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am Scott:

@Doug, nice to see you, there's always the archive :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Doug Schulkind:

You betcha, Scott.
  10:03am pierre:

  10:09am jack m.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Scott:

Thanks Jack! Always great to hear your fill-ins.
  10:26am pierre:

@Scott : unless it's personal, what did you answer to the what are you eating question ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am Scott:

Hmmmm, I can't remember. I'm sure it was delicious though.
  10:54am radiobelly:

tight lonely, this takayanagi
  11:00am Peter K:

There's a great vocal version of "Lonely Woman" by Helen Merrill, with a saxophone solo by Gary Bartz -- I think it's on the Helen Merrill-Dick Katz album "A Shade of Difference."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am Scott:

Never heard that one!
  11:13am Andrew Waterloo:

It's surprising how much variety there is in this set.
  11:17am BSI:

bah! Missed the Jac Berrocal one...
  11:24am Rueandfork:

Oh, wow. Intense.
  11:52am Andrew:

Helen Merrill! Thanks, Peter. I've been looking for that version FOREVER! Somebody sang it to me once, and I always wanted to know where those vocals came from.
  12:01pm breugelesque:

Glad you carried out your threat, Scott. Show was so good!
  8:03pm Larry:

Wow, thanks for ID-ing that Haden quote of "John Henry"! It was haunting me all day. This show ruled. I think the Takayanagi was the pinnacle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm Scott:

Also Don Cherry heavily quoting "Summertime" in the solo just prior to Haden's. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Passaic River Blues:

Jesus, what a fantastic program.
  2:33pm Listener Gregory:

I was turned on to this show this past week (last week of 2016). The show still stands up four years later. Thank God for the archive.
