I am totally with you on not liking shows with kids -- WHO NEEDS 'EM?! And also with you on making an exception for Stranger Things. It's mostly just Spielberg/baby-Lovecraft pastiche but it's GOOD Spielberg/baby-Lovecraft pastiche.

Lovecraft never said anything about kids, but he didn't sound like the type who liked them. Then again, he didn't seem to like much of anything except Boston.

*IS THERE* any anime without kids or teens or kid-like squeaky characters? I hardly ever watch it because of that. Even the best one, Cowboy Bebop, has that aggravating Edward character. Barf. (At least in Attack on Titan, the dumb kids get eaten by monsters occasionally, although ultimately that show is just a variation on mecha combined w/kaiju.)

@Hubig: yes, it's Gaelic...
  10:33am Listener Robert:

Thanks, bob, and thanks Keilidh, I am indeed listening to the WMFU program. Is this the Mt. Hope's version of WNBC-TV's "The Lucky Texan" that automatically gets played if they get cut off from their feed?
  10:33am Lovecraft:

"Then he noticed all the sleek complacent cats of Ulthar licking their chops with unusual gusto, and recalled the spitting and caterwauling he had faintly heard, in lower parts of the temple while absorbed in the old priest’s conversation. He recalled, too, the evilly hungry way in which an especially impudent young Zoog had regarded a small black kitten in the cobbled street outside. And because he LOVED NOTHING ON EARTH MORE than SMALL BLACK KITTENS, he stooped and petted the sleek cats of Ulthar as they licked their chops, and did not mourn because those inquisitive Zoogs would escort him no farther."
  10:36am Listener Robert:

Like for instance it just played "Secret Agent Man", which doesn't match any of the alternate stream playlists either.

Turds of Misery is a band, I'm led to believe. After all, I saw a photo of a bunch of guys, posing as a band, wearing "Turds of Misery" T-shirts. Seems like Triad of Incomplete Woes oughtta have been up their alley

  10:56am Brendan:

All of the brooks and ponds of my youth are devoid of crayfish, minnows, frogs, newts and the like. They are oxygen starved by the algae blooms fueled by nitrogenous fertilizer runoff from the perfect lawns and golf courses. We traded paradise for a monoculture of grass. F dat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am AnAnonymousParty:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Phillippe Bastille:

@Hubig@sphere we bought a house that had been vacant for about 6 months and before that it was occupied by a late 80s/early 90s woman who liked to garden, plant trees and shrubbery, etc. so the entire 1/2 acre+ lot was totally out of control. I tried to get it into shape myself but it was too big of a job for me. We hired a team of guys to clear stuff out so I'd at least have a cleaned-up yard to deal with. Its taken 4 guys 4 days and they aren't done yet. The language barrier is a problem. We had a spindly magnolia growing amongst shrubs and other trees that we wanted to give some room to. Landscaper cleared out a about a six foot radius around the tree. Then cut down the tree... Language barriers... (sigh...)
  11:01am Listener Robert:

Lower-case bob, I don't know how to say this, but...I and my friend Bob here are both especially enjoying what's coming out of 90.1 this morning. My compliments to whoever programmed it, playlist doesn't match any of the alternate streams either.

  11:06am JakeGould:

@ListenerRobert: “Lowercase bob” could just be letting us know that there are transmitter problems on 90.1FM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am crateslinger:

I think there have been transmitter probs on 90.1 for a couple weeks. Used to be something on the home page about it.
  11:08am Brendan:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am crateslinger:

It's a good idea not to trust anyone on this comments board that has not posted a couple cat pics
Avatar 11:09am βrian:

Are those IPs originating from Langley, perchance?
  11:10am Listener Robert:

What they've referred to in Mt. Hope has been power failures. Obviously now they have power, But if they reset their connection to WFMU, we'll miss whatever this rare program is, and they obviously have hours' worth of it, haven't heard it loop in the past 2.
  11:10am JakeGould:

5 users from the same IP could be 5 workers in one office. Or 5 students in the same university. Or 5 people on the same cafe Wi-Fi.

It could also be one WFMU fan with a deep seated troll problem.
  11:10am Rory:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am crateslinger:

So how about that black motorcycle song, Keili? Or where can I find it?
Avatar 11:20am Keilidh:

@crateslinger - I'm guessing you're referring to my old cover of Lana Del Rey's song "Yayo" that Irwin plays sometimes. What a throwback... slightly embarrassing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

....who actually resembled actual noodles & milk...but never you mind...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am steveo:

@hubig I don't have a lawn, but I do need to email the building manager soon to have the super mow the back yard -- ours is the one on the right with the shed lh3.googleusercontent.com... (the neighbors have a nice catalpa tree)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am crateslinger:

@Keili - yeah that must be it. I heard it once like five years ago - probably on his show and thought it was great. Thanks!
Avatar 11:24am Hubig Pie:

Lovecraft's kitties and 3yr old kiddos love noodles and milk. Steveo, that catalpa tree is impressive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Phillippe Bastille:

@steveo imagine a half acre of that and that was our yard when we moved in. I've seen more different kinds of snakes than I think I think I had seen total the last 10 years of my life

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am AnAnonymousParty:

Well, if it took 4 guys 4 days to clear just 1/2 acre, it must've been a jungle. What else did you see fleeing? Those snakes were eating something.

  11:30am JakeGould:

Maybe the snakes sensed your “Dark Psychic Energy” Phillippe.
  11:35am Derek Bee:

Hello, what's the name of the bed music during DJ chats?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am Phillippe Bastille:

@AnAnonymousParty A jungle it was, and the leaves had not been raked for years. There was so much English Ivy spread around the house that the roots were coming through the basement walls between the sill plate and cinder blocks. It was a rodent and snake paradise, plenty of voles and moles and mice. The shrubs were so dense that we found a water faucet on a 3 foot high post and piping for an outdoor shower that we didn't even know we had
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Phillippe Bastille:

i think only phillippe can see that link.. to post my google photos image, first I right-clicked and did "open image in new tab" and used that url. this seems to get around the permissions issue.

but also, if your photo is from a real estate site, it might be possible to do a reverse image search and find out your address (which you may not want....)
