A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

  9:45am Gaylord Fields:

@ngh: It’s been rather glorious! Big Swedish cities and small Danish ones have been the itinerary. Highlights include a Danish dine & dash of ice cream cones! (Long story I won’t share here, but do believe me that it was 100% justified!)
  9:45am TurkuStu:

@tadpoles, yes, of course it's been on Finnish TV ( with subtitles ) and yes that is ' THE bridge' . Has there been an American version made ?
Swag For Life Member 9:46am tadpoles:

Yes jda the Danish/Swedish show. I feel I know that bridge without ever being there. Hopefully Gaylord's train will go across it??

Thanks for reminding New Yorkers to vote next Thursday! We have a big big problem with fake Democrats in the state Senate and it's hard to get people to turn out and vote them out....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am steveo:

We have some exciting races in the primary this year in NYC because of the "IDC" coalition of people who ran as Democrats but caucused with Republicans in the state senate last year. (It is too late to register to vote for the primary in NY, but those who are registered should vote!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am steveo:

(oh, hi Ike)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am steveo:

NYS i should have said...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Trouble:

voters helped ayanna pressley achieve an amazing victory this week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am Webhamster Henry:

The last time I was in Malmö, the bridge hadn't been built yet! The ferry was fun though, as was the boat up to Oslo.
Avatar 10:21am northguineahills:

Nice cover, got to venture into the wilderness, be back soonish.....
Avatar 10:23am Linda Lee:

beautiful set, Trouble. just lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am ɨkɛ:

Pressley, Ocasio-Cortez, and Gillum give us hope that New Yorkers are going to PAY ATTENTION and turn out to vote out the corrupt IDC dirtballs (and Simcha Felder in my district), but state Senate races are much lower-profile than US House races, so....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am melinda:

@Gaylord I read about your Scandinavian gig in the FMU newsletter and checked out the conference site, looks fun! Now I have to watch The Bridge.
  10:27am Gaylord Fields:

@melinda: Thanks for checking in with me! Hope you’re well.
  10:27am TurkuStu:

Talking of elections and Sweden....they have major election on Saturday and fear is the reactionary right party ( oddly named Democrats ) will gain enough seats to be a major part of Sweden's political scene. Hope the sensible Swedes keep things together.
  10:28am Renbo:

Personally, the IDC was a heartbreakingly slimeball move but listening to Senator Carlucci yesterday on this link, gave me a sad feeling about the rational for it: http://www.fios1news.com/lowerhudsonvalley/newsbreakers-democratic-primary-debate-nys-senate-dist-38-pt-1-sept-1-2018#.W5ALkehKiM8
Praying to all ye gods Felder et al. is kicked out and kicked out hard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28am melinda:

@Henry I like ferries too, but when I read that you could take a train from Malmö to Copenhagen that sounded even more exciting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am ⓘⓚⓔ:

OTOH a couple of powerful Mass. state Senators just got ousted, so there's hope! @Renbo, we volunteers for Blake Morris are working hard, but it's a tough district, and because of fusion voting, we have to beat Simcha Felder TWICE. Even if we win in the primary and stop him from squatting on the Dem line, he'll also be on the R line in November! NY, corrupt like no other state!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am Mike East:

so glad I made it just in time for Lonnie Holley. Good morning, Trouble!
Avatar 10:33am Roberto:

Bonnie Prince Lonnie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am Mick:

it's a crazy day for me so i'm going to have to listen to the archive later, but i wanted to jump in quick to thank you for the voterrific PSA, wish Gaylord the happiest travels in norseland, and to send BIG LOVE to Lonnie Holley - saw him at Mass MoCA last year and was blown away. Irrepressible creativity, kindness, generosity of spirit, a walking gift to the world. Thank you Trouble and Lonnie!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am Ken From Hyde Park:

Glad to hear Lonnie Holley on Trouble's show once again.
  10:41am Renbo:

@ Ike
Arg I didn't know that viz Felder can switch his party affiliation to R if he needs to? Isn't that a moral outrage? The above link to the debate between Carlucci and Goldberg (whom I met yesterday at a local meeting) has a part two
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am Webhamster Henry:

@melinda this was 42 years ago!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am ⓘⓚⓔ:

@Renbo, Felder can be BOTH at the same time! It's called "fusion voting." NY is the only state that does it. Felder is (to my knowledge) the only one who runs as both a D and an R at the same time, but you'll see a lot of candidates in the general election ballot running as both D and Working Families at the same time, or R and "Independence Party" at the same time. There's also a bogus "Women's Equality Party" with IDC slimeballs on that line too: www.thenation.com...
  10:49am jess:
