Was listening to an Yma Sumac CD this morning that I hadn't played in ages. An album I ordered came in today, and they cover Yma. And now, what do I hear?
What's' gong on today?!
Avatar 7:04pm Froggie:

greetings Dan and fryers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm joe mulligan:

never get tired of Martin Denny
Avatar 7:13pm Dan Bodah:

Gennady Tkachenko is sort of the boy Olga Podluzhnaya of the Eastern European "___'s Got Talent" shows.
  7:16pm Marc15:

The previous piece sounded like Ferrante And Teicher
  7:18pm cat:

can we hear some animal yoiks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm joe mulligan:

Human Fly by the Cramps!
Avatar 7:22pm JakeGould:

No horse’s asses please… We have enough on regular TV!
Avatar 7:23pm coelacanth∅:

i wouldn't dispute his royalty
Avatar 7:24pm Dan Bodah:

@Joe, good suggestion, but I've already got another Cramps tune lined up. Re animal yoiks, I haven't had time yet to dig through for the great ones so yeah, these ideas will be great for a future show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm Kat in Chicago:

"EXTREME YODELING"
Avatar 7:25pm dale:

i'm thinking there has to some crazy version of old macdonald out there.
Avatar 7:27pm Dan Bodah:

@dale, apparently there's a killer Andy Kaufman version but I haven't found it yet -- he did it a lot but apparently one is the holy grail of old mcdonaldses
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm Blues Mandinga:

Hi!
  7:27pm Marc15:

"The Cry Of The Wild Duck" by The Klezmer Conservatory Band has chicken impressions
Avatar 7:27pm TehBadDr:

  7:30pm MrFab:

Singers bwock-bwocking like chickens:

Avatar 7:33pm Froggie:

  7:34pm cat:

Avatar 7:35pm coelacanth∅:

are you really a froggie and a cat? Dan might have gigs for you.
Avatar 7:35pm Dan Bodah:

Lotsa great suggestions, thanks
Avatar 7:37pm Dan Bodah:

Saw early music group Tenet perform this Jehan Valliant piece last week -- excellent. Check them if you like early music.
  7:37pm cat:

  7:40pm St Joe:

Mozarts cat duet?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Richard S:

So, is this show for the birds?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm melinda:

I remember this from one of my K-tel records.
Avatar 7:44pm Dan Bodah:

It's pretty hard to find a song with a camel imitation
  7:44pm MrFab:

Goofy Greats!
Avatar 7:45pm JakeGould:

I don’t know what to say about this Ahab the Arab. I wish there was another camel song.
Avatar 7:45pm dale:

ray stevens spawned jim stafford - that MUST be how we got spiders and snakes.
Avatar 7:45pm coelacanth∅:

oh, try to find one with a sloth.
Avatar 7:46pm dale:

i have to clicky star this. haven't heard it in decades.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm Rich in Washington:

We had a Best of Ray Stevens record as a kid with a version of this song, I think an earlier single version. I think he must've rerecorded some of his stuff for other labels.
His Rock N' Roll show single was on it too. It was a hoot. Great impersonations of people that were famous in the late 50s.
Avatar 7:47pm dale:

get out of my house!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Rich in Washington:

Steven's is on the long list of once beloved comedy/pop musicians who's now a right wing crank.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Rich in Washington:

YOU get out of my house!
Oh, sorry. A reflex.
Avatar 7:48pm coelacanth∅:

you can take Kate out of the house, but you can't take the horse out of Kate.
Avatar 7:49pm coelacanth∅:

(...though i guess it's a mule, right?)
Avatar 7:50pm dale:

i was in love with her back in the day. but man, imagine getting into am argument with her?
Avatar 7:50pm coelacanth∅:

dale, i'll take it.
Avatar 7:51pm JakeGould:

@dale: Why?
  7:51pm MrFab:

"Clippety clop, Yee-haw yee-haw, it's Dominik the donkey" - Lou Monte. Xmas song, tho.
Avatar 7:51pm dale:

the caterwauling
Avatar 7:51pm Dan Bodah:

Re Ray Stevens: It's cringy for sure but it's also kinda nice to hear a distinctly American voice speaking positively about Arab themes. I forgot how vile our country's become in that respect.
Avatar 7:52pm dale:

AND he gave us the streak. an american hero!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm BronwynB:

HEY!

we sang this in my high school choir.
Avatar 7:53pm JakeGould:

@Dan: Oh, completely agree! But I am more of a Steve Martin fan anyway… “Buried with a donkey! He’s my favorite honky!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm BronwynB:

dancin by the nile, the ladies love his style!
Avatar 7:53pm coelacanth∅:

dale - well, THEY called it the streak.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm melinda:

The Streak was on K-tel too. What an amusing fad that was.
  7:54pm cat:

yes the great country of yemen lets jews and muslims have legal polygamy and now so many people want to bomb yemen
Avatar 7:54pm JakeGould:

I think that is why Steve Martin is who he is and Ray Stevens is who he is. Nuff said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm BronwynB:

the hilliard ensemble sang that song better than we did.
Avatar 7:55pm JakeGould:

@cat: What country don’t people want to bomb nowadays?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm melinda:

I loved King Tut. @Bronwyn haha
  7:55pm cat:

in amerika they still dont have bisexual marriage yet
Avatar 7:56pm dale:

i like steve martins solo version of dueling banjos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm BronwynB:

i know plenty of married bisexuals
  7:56pm Joe:

Jean-Jacques Perrey, "Chicken on The Rocks" (the version from the new compliation "Jean-Jacques Perrey et son Ondioline" on Forgotten Futures).
Avatar 7:56pm Mr. Lowry:

With the fall of the Soviet Union, a new global enemy had to be manufactured.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm BronwynB:

i am eating a jaffa orange. who can beat that?
  7:57pm cat:

no bombs just yoiks, up here in sami country
  7:57pm cat:

so they have a legal husband and wife which country is this bronwyn?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm melinda:

The B-side of King Tut was Steve playing Sally Goodin on banjo. We used to listen to that at my grandmother's house, me and the cousins. And dance around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm Richard S:

Steve Martin is a really really good banjo player
Avatar 7:59pm Dan Bodah:

Thanks all, see you next week!!
Avatar 7:59pm JakeGould:

Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm melinda:

Nice closer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm chris:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm BronwynB:

Avatar 7:59pm coelacanth∅:

Steve Martin is an Extraordinary human being.
  7:59pm cat:

Avatar 8:00pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar 8:00pm Cheri Pi:
