Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from May 7, 2013 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Ulan Bator  Live in the WFMU Studio   Favoriting Engineered by Ernie Indradat    Ulan Bator was started in 1993 in Paris by Amaury Cambuzat, who has also spent time among the ranks of Faust (a band Ulan Bator has often been cited as a kind of post-rock French kindred spirit of). They've been relatively lowkey in American circles, though some years ago released a Michael Gira-produced album "Ego Echo" released on his Young God imprint. Avant-classical leanings, subtle nods to Circle and even Swans float from their amps; Ulan Bator will be playing at the Delancey in NYC on May 15th with Insect Ark, Ron Anderson, and Martin Bisi. Lineup today: Amaury Cambozat (Vox/Guitar), Nathelie Forget (Onde Martenot), Luca Andriola (drums, FX), Diego Vinciarelli (Bass). Setlist: Ah-Ham / Fakir / We R You / Colere / En France/En Transe / Moon Du Bugurach / Pensees Massacre / Take Off. Band is on tour thru May 15th around the USA, check out their site for more!    1:35:05 (Pop-up)
