A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

  10:14am specksnyder:

Super peripatetic set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Funny story from the edge of signal range: in this part of NJ, it can be tricky to tease out WFMU amid the fuzzy signal clutter. As it turns out, I had the wrong station on for ten minutes because when I tuned in Sonic Youth's "Little Trouble Girl" was on, and I figured, you know...
Avatar 10:14am Cheri Pi:

  10:15am specksnyder:

In a great way, of course.
Avatar 10:15am fred von helsing:

Is that free range chicken poop you're putting on your petunias ?

  10:23am paul:

Avatar 10:27am fred von helsing:

played the Superchicken theme lately ?
Avatar 10:27am Van in DC:

Eggs hate me. Which is sad, because I don't deal well with rejeggtion
Avatar 10:28am Jennique:

@Cecile - Thanks! Maybe next year? I dunno, but I am happy to take credit for the FMU circular, garden state parkway sticker/beer mat.
@Troublina - was SO colorful and hot down there. Quite the opposite of here. Highlight was watching giant sea turtles lay eggs at night on the beach. They lay quite a few more than chickens, like 80 to 120 at a time.
Avatar 10:28am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Aah, Superchicken, Tom Slick, Hoppity Hooper... where have all our great heroes gone?
Avatar 10:29am Cecile:

Awesome! I love that.
Avatar 10:31am Cecile:

holy crap, that's a lot of baby turtles to get washed away.
Avatar 10:34am fred von helsing:

widowspeak could play polka and it would sound fab
Avatar 10:35am Jennique:

Yeah I know, but the survival rate of baby turtles is pretty low. Safety in numbers. Those turtles looked so tired! They barely made it back to the sea.So magical to watch.
Avatar 10:38am βrian:

Greetings from the isthmus where the chickens squawk freely.
Avatar 10:39am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am Ike:

Pete@10:14, crummy clock radio? Those can slip back and forth between 91.1 and 91.5 even in areas where both have good signals. It's more the shoddiness of the cheap dial tuner than anything.
Avatar 10:39am Van in DC:

The "Africa" series had a really great segment on baby turtles and their mad dash to safety
Avatar 10:40am Jennique:

I'll have to watch that. I didn't see any hatchings, just egg laying. Still pretty incredible.
Avatar 10:42am Cecile:

I'd be tired if I just pooped 80 rocks.
Avatar 10:43am Cecile:

aw thanks, Trouble!!!!
Avatar 10:44am Cecile:

keep on cluckin'
Avatar 10:44am hamburger:

aw yiss don't let the cluck stop! *bwaak*

Avatar 10:45am Brian in UK:

Hello trouble & folks.
Missed the climax of the marathon out getting some fresh air. What a wonderful station & listeners. Priceless.
Avatar 10:46am Cecile:

oooh, I love bread covers
Avatar 10:46am Van in DC:

The "Africa" episode was "Cape"

"Witness the enormous challenge of the baby green turtle, a species with only a one in one thousand change of surviving to adulthood."
Avatar 10:48am Dr. Goot:

WE & AR certainly make a lovely couple!
Avatar 10:49am Cecile:

They really complement each other's style.
Avatar 10:50am Trouble:

i agree heartily brian in the UK!!
Avatar 10:50am Brian in UK:

Went to see The Bride & the Bachelors the other week. Love Duchamps' attitude. Even when The Bride Stripped Bare by Bachelors broke in transit; that was treated as part of the art. Love it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am Carmichael:

Hiya Trouble, hi everyone. Johnny Halliday!

@Cecile: Tony Coulter is playing Aussie/NZ music at 9 AM this morning on the Drummer stream. Thought you should know.
Avatar 11:21am Jeff:

Speaking of barnyard fowl... We're well past the official Chicken Update segment of this show, but in case you need a fine chicken-themed song some day, our pal Joe McGasco played a doozy recently:

Avatar 11:28am Cecile:

thanks, Carm. I will have to check it out on the archives.
Avatar 11:30am Brian in UK:

Jeff it's all from the Cluck Old Hen comp. It was another belter as you say. Wish I'd got it as it was offered up for pledges.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Yea, Ike, more or less. Really in the last miles of 91.1 up here, so it's always an effort.
Avatar 11:50am Cecile:

they just better not break into my house for the pipes when I'm on vacation!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Trouble, I would just like to say that this is so, so, so much more encouraging than when the Cub Scouts visited Seven Second Delay. Oh, the humanity...
Avatar 11:54am Trouble:

thanks pete!
Avatar 11:56am Van in DC:

Um, Tony Coulter's show is at noon isn't it? on GTDR?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

In general, I will say, I find your show very encouraging, which is a good thing to be.
Avatar 11:57am Van in DC:

Thanks trouble, have a great week!
  12:04pm Marie:

What lovely music! (your first set in particular). You are a great DJ. Thanks. The first set is perfect for me today--my mom died a year ago today and my little thing Jenny (a sweet cat) just died last week. Music, thanks universe.
