@Andrew in WI: Interesting. My pet peeve in modern poetry is the $50 word....I know I can use it to expand my vocabulary but I find it really annoying when words get dropped in that are not a part of %99.999 percent of the general public.
  9:47am morphe':

Used to teach the significance of punctuation to my classes with the following when they complained about me asking for correct puntuation and how "it did not matter."
a) = [incorrect] A woman without her man is nothing.
b) = [correct] A woman, without her, man is nothing.

@Son of Pantz I agree...and I have somewhat winsome memories of Swiss Colony. My Dad, may he rest in peace, LOVED the catalogs for some reason. The entire brand was a giant conceit in 20/20 hindsight--faux "European" style cheeses and meat so over-processed that it could survive a year at room temperature--paired with sticky-oversweet fudges and chocolates, all delivered in tiered beribboned stacks of gilded boxes. Still, the contents delighted my kindergarten-aged self back then, and I still remember the giant mouse dressed in Xmas reds handing out cheese samples outside of the shop, as we waded through the holiday shoppers past the Orange Julius place. We may or may not have stopped at Friendly's on the way home.

Hey DiL! Krys - that sounds stressful. Poor birdy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Rick it was the Spectrum in Philly. It's called something different now. It's where the Flyers play.
Avatar 11:48am Joe McG:

Nice, Dennis! Hey, Joe, for a change I'm making a good transition to your show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am steveo:

the original spectrum was demolished ten years ago;

i saw my first concert there, deep purple, by accident
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Krys O.:

Unfortunately, the bird did not make it out. :( The situation was freaking my cats and me out. I also caught The Birds on TCM recently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am tim from champaign (now washington):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am steveo:

@krys; alas

@tim well, the phillies game was rained out so we bought some tickets to what we thought were a sixers playoff game very cheap, but it turned out the sixers were on the road :)

@Hams: Of course! :)
Avatar 11:53am Hams:

i dig it!
Avatar 11:53am northguineahills:

@Krys: I once had a bird get into my apt (open window). I had to use a sheet w/ my partner to get it back to said window and finally got it out safely (luckily, no bird schiidt.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am Krys O.:

No Jona Lewie? JK, this has been a great show, Joe. Thanks!
  11:54am Brendan:

I like this kind of pop like my drinks. Dry, straightforward, not overproduced , with a good feeling in the gut.

Thanks, Joe! Have a good week, Cervezas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am tim from champaign (now washington):
