Avatar 12:02pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

Hello Irene, and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Good morning-ish, Irene! Loved your fill-in on Saturday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Irene Trudel:

Welcome, james, βrian, Stork, RobertSylvia, and Summer and Michael and Sylvia! Let's lose ourselves in some of my favorite music today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Stanley:

Hi Irene. I don't know what to make of this track. Like mixing oil and water?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Irene Trudel:

Kinda sorta, Stanley. That's what Ed Palermo loves to do-- musical mashups.
  12:11pm John B.:

So glad I'm around to listen live this week. Cheers Irene and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Irene Trudel:

Ha, listener Robert! Good one. Hiya John B! Good to have you with us.
Avatar 12:14pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Pleased with what Uncle Steve Cohen did, Irene? Lifted my spirits.
  12:14pm amylea:

Irene- I love this stars & fellini pic, too cute. :) Also, yes Saturday's show made my Sunday morning wonderful. Grateful to hear you again so soon....
Avatar 12:15pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Yes, caught Saturday’s show via archives, thank you Irene
  12:18pm Peter K.:

"Re: Person I Wish I Knew" is an anagram for "Orrin Keepnews, I wish."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Irene Trudel:

Indeed, Peter! Hi amylea! So glad you liked my Saturday fill-in (I did a BowieBarrettDenny Birthday Celebration, and you can find it in the archives.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Irene Trudel:

Sean, I'm not sure I know what you mean about Uncle Steve Cohen.
Avatar 12:24pm Sean in Bristol UK:

sorry, was getting a bit sporty, our beloved Mets ceo
Avatar 12:26pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Mets picked up a rather fine short stop and pitcher, sorry this is about music, I will desist!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Irene Trudel:

Ah, I forgot his name, Sean. Yes, some exciting additions to our Mets-ies.
Avatar 12:34pm βrian:

Little Human just noticed Fellini in Space. She's very entertained!
  12:37pm Peter K.:

By the way, fellow listeners, that photo of Fellini (RIP) in space is for real, not faked in any way. Our beloved Fellini did indeed spend much of his time in outer space.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Irene Trudel:

Nice, βrian! Fellini left us for the outer reaches of the universe over two years ago. The original picture is on my FB page: www.facebook.com...
Avatar 12:45pm Constant Follower:

Hey Irene! All :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Brian in UK:

Hello Irene, just back from the vets with Claude the cat. At sixteen he has a thickening of the heart, cannot recall the medical term but there at least eight syllables!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Irene Trudel:

Hey Constant Follower and Brian! Sorry your cat has heart troubles, Brian. My Nica is 18&1/2 and still keeping well despite a heart murmur and mild kidney disease. It's so difficult to see them age but we try to keep them comfortable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm doctorjazz:

Hi Irene! Like this Claire Daly! Know her as a baritone sax player (someone with Dave Sewelson's), nice to hear her fluting (flauting?)
Avatar 1:03pm Listening Out There:

Space felines of the universe...unite!
Avatar 1:06pm Listening Out There:

BTW, Irene, I'm also enjoying Soundcheck podcasts these days...even if they're reruns...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Brian in UK:

Somehow Tony Allen lets the drums do the work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Irene Trudel:

Welcome doctorjazz and Listening Out There! L.O.T., the Soundcheck podcasts are not all repeats. There are a lot of new ones being recorded for us remotely. Some really good ones lately-- Dust Bowl Faeries is new and I like them quite a bit!
Avatar 1:16pm Listening Out There:

Good to know. Have not heard the Dust Bowl Faeries yet, but will give it a listen....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Irene Trudel:

doctorjazz, I'm happy to have known both Claire and Dave for many years. So creative!
Avatar 1:23pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Loved the Dust Bowl Faeries podcast
Avatar 1:36pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Lordy, there is so much great music you have played last year, Irene, this is one of them, beautiful vocal harmonies from Pete M. Wyer, stunning
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Irene Trudel:

Discovering all this music is what's kept me sane this year, Sean.
Avatar 1:40pm Sean in Bristol UK:

And Thana Alexa, wow!

Avatar 1:55pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

haha, yes I am, thanks to wonderful DJs
Avatar 1:55pm Sean in Bristol UK:

@Summer, Michael and Sylvia, I did the lazy thing and downloaded your album via the fruit based platform, of course no info, ie, where the album was recorded, instrumentation, where do I need to go to dot the ‘i’s’, cross the ‘t’s’?
Avatar 1:58pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

first of all, thank you Sean, and you can visit the special website we made for the album, there's some reading and some pictures deuxanges.sluggrecords.com...
& deuxanges.sluggrecords.com...
Avatar 1:59pm Sean in Bristol UK:

@Sylvia, love ice cream, what’s your favourite flavour? Went to Florida a few days years back for Spring Training, was in heaven ice cream wise there
Avatar 1:59pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Sorry meant years
Avatar 1:59pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Thank you for the link
Avatar 2:00pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Just went onto the link, perfect
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks for that link, Sylvia! I'll include it when I add links to the playlist later.
Avatar 2:04pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

you're welcome Irene!

My fav ice cream flavor? that's a tough one, I really like chocolate, then raspberry, vanilla with chocolate swirl, rocky road, so many!!
Avatar 2:06pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Sorry to do the Star Trek comment again but “Captain, the engines canna not take it anymore’, absolutely blown away by this set. This Julianna Berwick track, goose pimples running over me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Most complete info, as Sylvia says, on the special Slugg Records site, @Sean and Irene, which has link as well to Bandcamp, which is here: bipolarexplorer.bandcamp.com...
Avatar 2:07pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

I missed the window to buy Julianna Barwick's album on CD on Bandcamp and keep regretting, it's so so beautiful
Avatar 2:08pm TDK60:

\\ // Highly logical Sean.
Avatar 2:15pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Definitely checking out Golden Fest, always on my ‘to do list’ now I can watch in the comfort of my armchair, happy days!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Irene Trudel:

Here are links to both those festivals: globalfest.org...

Avatar 2:23pm Sean in Bristol UK:

And Miss Trudel steps up to the plate, pitch comes in, the ball is spanked, going, going, it’s out of here. My Queen, the next seven days will be a huge hole, roll on next Monday.
Avatar 2:34pm TDK60:

Didn't know about this Joni M. collection.
  2:36pm Dean:

I've probably asked this before, Irene: Have you played Ferron?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Irene Trudel:

TDK60, I'm just starting to dive into it. So nice to hear her developing into the singer/songwriter we love.
Avatar 2:37pm prguitar:

Hey there Irene! Happy to be here for a little while.. Missed The Mommyheads, but will check the archive later.. My longtime friend Tom Kotik, who I worked with at the Guggenheim in the early mid 90's played bass and his brother Jan, who sadly passed in 2007, played drums with the band in the early days...
Avatar 2:38pm TDK60:

Oh, these are demos? In my haughty opinion J.M. was out of the gate, great.
  2:39pm Dean:

As long as you mention Dylan covers, Jimmy LaFave?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Irene Trudel:

Not just demos, TDK60. Lots of early live performances. Dean, I don't really know Jimmy's music. I'll have to save it for another show.
Avatar 2:41pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Love this version
  2:42pm Dean:

Only asking if you'd played him (and above, her, Ferron). For various reasons, they seem like they'd suit your palate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Irene Trudel:

Hey prguitar! I remember Tom. Really a shame he's gone. Glad the others in The Mommyheads are keeping going.
Avatar 2:43pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Beautiful segue, Irene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Irene Trudel:

Dean, thanks for suggesting. I'll check them out.
Avatar 2:45pm Sean in Bristol UK:

The chord sequence is Baroque per chance?
  2:49pm Dean:

The sequence resembles one occurring in Spanish dance music, as here in a piece performed by Andrew Lawrence-King:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VHQx3k_Ld8&list=PLtoLsdo33GUMrzvjyFFNNSgqvqpDi6ESj
Avatar 2:49pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

oh, already the end of the show! Thank you, Irene
Avatar 2:50pm Constant Follower:

Always goes so fast! Thanks for another great show Irene!
Avatar 2:55pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Wonderful, wonderful show, Irene, thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks to all of you for joining me today! Definitely goes too fast, but I'll do it all over again next Monday at noon. Stay tuned for Ken's Last Ever Radio Extravaganza.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm listener 126464:

Thank you Irene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Henry & WR!
Avatar 3:02pm prguitar:

Fortunately, Tom is still with us, I talk to him pretty often, and get out to hear him play, when possible.. He's a sometime jamming partner too, but who knows when that will happen again.. Jan passed in 2007. Needless to say Tom was heartbroken.. Jan got sick, and went back to Prague to be treated for cancer..I recall going to a memorial gathering with Tom and his Mom shortly thereafter. It was a place on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn. All Jan's friends were there.. was a bittersweet and emotional musical evening. Thanks for a sweet show this afternoon.💙♥️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Irene Trudel:

Sorry I meant to write Jan. That's what happens when I try to post and host at the same time. He was at WFMU at least once or twice with the band back in the 1990s. Sounds like it was a wonderful gathering, prguitar.
  3:10pm Alan Cynics:

Thank you again, Irene! Will be listening to this one tomorrow morning :)
