I'm trying to get help from a volunteer group that works with strays to see if we can catch him and get him help. poor little thing, I'm worried for him, so keep him in your thoughts if you can

Our neighborhood still has massive numbers of feral cats, though it's down from what it was ten, fifteen years ago. I once was up on the roof at night and counted forty visible cats. There was a neuter-and-release program, and I saw my first rat here about six years back. Still lots of cats, though. There are three primary ones that use the back lots of our part of the block as highway and hunting grounds. They don't seem to have made much dent in the sparrow or squirrel population, though! Joined today by a downy woodpecker and a tufted titmouse.

coela, sometimes, depends on fermentation conditions, but it's never totally dead, as I recall. And sometimes you can use it for the next batch. I don't know anything about kombucha (I think I've had one sip?), but I think that eventually alcohol will kill yeast, which is why fermentation stops. But you can control for how much alcohol you make in primary fermentation and preserve the yeast for another round sometimes. As I recall. We, uh, did a lot of supply sampling as we experimented!
