I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Hello Mayuko and listeners. I have something very appropriate to eat while listening to this show: Oreo ice cream

Afternoon, Mayuko and all!

Oreo ice cream! That reminds me, there was YET ANOTHER fake Mister Softee in Sunset Park who was playing the theme music and yet had no official logo on the truck!!! >:( I should tell Ike.

Mayuko:

Hallos, james!

Hi Mayuko and listeners
I was dreaming of green tea ice cream, earlier today.
  12:10pm
rbrt:

mister softees used to brawl with each other over territory back in the day didn't they?
Avatar 12:13pm
Mayuko:

Hey Stanley! Thanks for tuning in! Green tea ice cream is def favorite!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm

@rbrt: Mayuko covered some alarming developments here: wfmu.org...

Good afternoon, Mayuko! Enjoying this fine drone...

Hi all! Walking Ozzie and Maxie the puppy, man, what a pain! How's everyone doing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
David D:

Not bad, Doctorjazz, and you?
  12:16pm
rbrt:

@fred haha this is amazing , this is exactly what I was thinking of
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm

@doctorjazz: is the puppy making progress with walks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm

Good to hear Tricky!

Hi Mayuko and listeners!
What's today's theme? Is it in Russian?
My favorite icecream flavor is coconut.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm

hi Mayuko and virtilettes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm

...can't stay long, unfortunately. i'm working.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
doctorjazz:

Doing better, little Maxie is... She figured out what to do on walks, but not that she should do it ONLY on walks, not in the house... She's exhausting but cute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
doctorjazz:

Great set, btw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
fred:

This Andy Haas track could have been in a Lynch movie
Avatar 12:30pm
Mayuko:

Good evening tmoyo! I don't have much of a theme today but it is kind of like what it's like to be growing up in Japan as a depressed teenage The Cure listener. Which is an experiense that resembles Eraserhead.
Avatar 12:31pm
Mayuko:

coelacanth∅! Glad to have you here even for a short while!
Avatar 12:31pm

Thanks doctorjazz!

Joking aside "Кинохроника" is a name of a J-pop song I'm gonna play and that's where today's flow started. It means "Newsreel"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
fred:

"Mes Yeux Clos C'est Mon Coeur Entre Tes Mains" may translate as "my eyes shut, it's my heart in your hands". "c'est" is weird there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
Brian in UK:

Hello Mayuko and pranksters.

Think I will get a sheet and cut out two eye holes and put it over my head. Scary huh? No really.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
fred:

@Brian in UK: that would be scarier if you were in Charlottesville
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
Brian in UK:

fred why not invest in an ice cream maker. Then the world is your lobster or whatever flavour you fancy.

Can Casey Affleck get an Oscar for wearing a sheet. Stranger things have happened.
Avatar 12:40pm
Mayuko:

@fred thanks for the translation! Glad to know the meaning. I should have checked the pronunciation too................

Hellos Brian in UK! That sounds like an appropriate posture to listen to my today's show! (or any of my shows really)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Brian in UK:

Well using the principle of diminishing one sense will enhance another, you might be on to something..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
fred:

@mayuko: all I can tell you is to ignore the last two 's' , they're both silent. The one in "Mes Yeux" is pronounced like there was a 'z' in front of "Yeux"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm
fred:

Apparently, Andy Haas had an earlier record titled Taballah, so that may be where the "II" came from
  12:56pm
Rickwaukee:

My double vision always seems to get the best of me, the best of me, yeah -Foreigner
  12:58pm
Rickwaukee:

Maybe why I stopped listening to my old music library - it is an emotional minefield!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm
fred:

I guess your idea explains why I can't stand 80's music. I can't stand my 80's self. Except for New Order, and my enthusiasm for that band back then is the lone redeeming quality I find in that guy. It all fits
Avatar 1:01pm
Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee I think I totally understand what you mean! I just stumbled upon that J-pop song after many many years - it wasn't intentional and was almost shocking how emotional I got from hearing it. Don't want it on a daily basis, haha.
  1:07pm
Rickwaukee:

Conversely, people whose best life memories are in the past may get stuck listening only to 'the oldies' - like 'Classic Rock' - for the rest of their life, which I wouldn't want either
  1:10pm
Rickwaukee:

I enjoy more and more music from across time, like your playlist!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm
Brian in UK:

Classic Rock = Lack of Imaginative Programming FM. Of which there is no frequency modulation.
Avatar 1:13pm
Mayuko:

I think what I was thinking is maybe our emotion is a 4 dimensional thing and we live past/present/possibly future too all at once, it doesn't feel like I just have a memory that goes one way from beginning to the end. But my thoughts are really scattered today and not sure if I'm making any sense! oh well.
Avatar 1:14pm
Mayuko:

@fred ah, thanks for the pronunciation tips!
  1:14pm
Rickwaukee:

Time isn't a line - it is melting in one place like a chocolate chip?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm
Brian in UK:

Well if you see time as the fourth dimension.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm
tmoyo:

Oh! this song!
I like your theory of time and emotion.
  1:17pm
rbrt:

@mayuko sounds like quantum theory physics where you can be in multiple states at same time
  1:18pm
rbrt:

jeez my only contribution today was about ice cream and mister softee lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm
tmoyo:

I like how Hagio Moto explores the idea of time and space and multiple seives in her Sci-Fi comics
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm
fred:

@rbrt: these are very important topics around here
Avatar 1:26pm
Mayuko:

@rbrt that quantum theory thing sounds interesting!! I wonder if that also explains ghosts phenomenon?! The theory I completely fail to explain on mic was that ghosts are actually living in the past/future time frame but in a multiple states including the one in our time, and therefore we see it???
Avatar 1:26pm
Mayuko:

(Man I have the best listeners/commenters!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm

This music is kind of appropriate today.

It really is about time for me to go check out Book-off in NYC to see if they have any Hagio Moto and the book tmoyo recommended me last week. I had enthusiastic Moto fans around me and yet never read any.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm

There's a book-off in NY??? Last time I went there was 1997...so.

Greetings from southeastern North Dakota. Just came in from picking weeds with my dear mother. Great big ragweeds and thistles. She's 80, but pulled and clipped the weeds all morning.

@mayuko totally sounds like it lol

Perseid meteor shower! Thanks for the info Brian!!

@tmoyo yeah, so I was told. There's some Manga-kissa thing too so maybe that's where I should go for Moto.

Welcome on board, Ken! Sounds like you're having a wonderful weekend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Brian in UK:

Mayuko you give the Drummer Stream a whole new direction in thought and music. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm

It's great here, Mayuko. Fresh air and quiet. I was out looking for meteors Thursday night and saw just a few. Too tired last night, but will see how it goes tonight, if it clears up. The town theater is showing Spiderman this weekend, and we'll pass. Might see Dunkirk next weekend.

Thanks Mayuko! The gif reminded me of Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker's Tippeke, but it seems she ran through woods for just a few seconds, so I wonder why
Avatar 2:03pm
Mayuko:

@fred It seems like it was a scene from a horror film but I am not sure. I found this gif when I was looking for images of zoetropes.
