See www.catinfo.org to get the scoop on dry food, which is too high in carbs for cats. Dry food was created for human convenience, not for a cat's nutrition. Wet food is much closer to a cat's natural diet and more vets are recommending wet food these days.

He gets 1/2 can for breakfast & dinner and gets a 1/4 cup dry (the expensive non junk kind) for lunch. Which SHOULD be plenty for his weight. Also, our vet (who I like a lot) only feeds her cats DRY! Hard to figure what is right. But he's a sweetie & we love him.

my theory is some cats have anxiety about food from starving maybe when younger, nursing or whatever... my friends cat always hung around the kitchen for cooking time and begging and eating things left on counters etc. i watched her for a few weeks. i gave her can food twice a day but also left out a full bowl of dry food. at first she ate it all but then i immediately filled it again. she ate maybe half. i kept it full and eventually she paced herself not eating it all. my theory is once they were sure food was going to be there they relaxed and food wasnt a big issue? begging while cooking or breaking into cabinets etc?
