Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

Listener comments!

  Wed. 9/7/16 9:04pm Stevel:

Hammersmith is somewhat danceable, in a disco sort of way. Producer?

Let's geek out!!!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:08pm efd:

hey Stevel! That Hammersmith record was produced by the band's lead guitarist Dan Lowe.
  Wed. 9/7/16 9:09pm Stevel:

It definitely had a beat, as does this set! I'd say disco night still echoes in your soul.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:11pm efd:

Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:12pm Figgsrock:

did you know that Cozi is showing Avengers reruns on weekends?
  Wed. 9/7/16 9:15pm JakeGould:

Oh Duffo. You are trying so hard.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:15pm efd:

I did not! Is Cozi like MeTV or Antenna?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:16pm Figgsrock:

It is! It's one of the WNBC digital channels. 4.2 I think. The reruns are at like 1am on sat and Sun nights.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:18pm Figgsrock:

Holy crap. Off the Record? I played the vinyl that show for one week in one of my P/T on air jobs.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:18pm efd:

yeah, I blew it though! I cued up side four instead of side one!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:20pm Figgsrock:

Oh no! Is there an easy point to fade it out?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:24pm efd:

ehh, kind of. ;)
  Wed. 9/7/16 9:24pm Stevel:

These are the times that try a DJ's soul...
  Wed. 9/7/16 9:25pm Stevel:

Hail, master!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:26pm Figgsrock:

That worked. I suppose you could have chopped the end of Zero, but that would be a crime. If that's from 1989, it must have been made when Driven Out was a big rock hit.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:26pm efd:

Figgs, I've got the WW One Satellite Delivery Schedule for the week of April 24 1989 here if you have any questions.
  Wed. 9/7/16 9:26pm johnk77:

the fixx were great live
in 1983
also seemed like down to earth lads
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:27pm efd:

yeah "Driven Out" was in segment 2. :)
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:29pm Figgsrock:

EFD, that would be great. I need to know when The spots are in Power Cuts.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:31pm Figgsrock:

Oh the fear I had the first time I had to time out to Rockline live. The credits are amazing!
  Wed. 9/7/16 9:32pm ceedubbled:

best part of the show - the 9:30ish cut to the theme song!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:39pm Chris M.:

i love the air horn
  Wed. 9/7/16 9:41pm Stevel:

That's pretty cheesy. I fully approve.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:43pm herb.nyc:

Yeah, Paranoid Style is real hot! Sounds like a sped up Allo Darlin.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 9:59pm melinda:

I missed the air horn.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 10:05pm herb.nyc:

Aside- since Evan's Nielsen ratings are so high, let's muck w them by not tuning in next week. Instead, let's see LUSH at Terminal 5 instead. And instead of paying retail, look at StubHub's very low prices. I and friends will be there (we're chumps & paid full retail). I think Evan will understand.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 10:07pm herb.nyc:

Radar Eye - palindromic band name.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 10:08pm efd:

oh I love a good bargain!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 10:15pm JakeGould:

Re-CD mixup: Pobody’s Nerfect!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 10:29pm efd:

very true!
Wed. 9/7/16 10:32pm Eddy in Australia:

Sorry to be a lurker but I had to chime in with a quick note on Chook Race: their name rhymes with book, not juke. it's Australian diminutive slang for a chicken. Go figure.
  Wed. 9/7/16 10:35pm jon:

hi efd. mind opening show once again. thnx
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 10:35pm efd:

ah! Thanks Eddy, I'm always happy to get pronunciation corrections. Resume lurking!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 10:36pm JakeGould:

@herb.nyc: *Pffffpphht!* Those tickets cost less than the 1991/1992 prices I paid to see them in NYC back in the day!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 10:52pm Stevel:

Holy crud, are The Fallen Leaves good!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 10:54pm efd:

yes they are!
  Wed. 9/7/16 10:59pm herb.nyc:

@JakeG- ya hafta spend $ to save $.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 11:04pm JakeGould:

@herb.nyc: Too bad I had to reschedule some other paid moonlighting gig to that exact night… *sad etherial trombone*
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 11:07pm Stevel:

Slow Motion Man sounds a bit Heat of the Moment.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 11:13pm Stevel:

Droneabilly/tm efd
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 11:29pm Figgsrock:

EFD, I played the full "Midnight at the Oasis" as part of a Yacht Rock I did Sunday, and I half expected to hear your voice say "ticket" at some point.
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 11:33pm Loretta:

hi Evan & all listeners! missed most of the show tonight......well, to the archives!!!!!
it is such a fantastic night here in south FL ~ made it hard to come back home. maybe there is a way to use my cell phone & 'blue link' to get this show in the car.. ?!?
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 11:33pm efd:

haha, @Figgsrock! I should have snuck in and got on the mic!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 11:34pm efd:

@Loretta, if you have an iPhone or Android phone you can download the free WFMU app and (probably) listen in your car!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 11:41pm Loretta:

@ Evan, that definitely sounds doable ( even for me)!LOL I have the app on a Samsung Galaxy & the rest of the info I'll get from the car manual & see if I can connect via blue tooth. Thanks Evan, now I have a plan!!!
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 11:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...out of lurky to say great Thx efd...
Avatar Wed. 9/7/16 11:55pm efd:

thanks RRN63, and thanks everyone else!
  Wed. 9/7/16 11:56pm Carmichael:

@Loretta, I do that all the time. Unlimited data and bluetooth means FMU all the time!
  Wed. 9/7/16 11:57pm Carmichael:

And heya efd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/7/16 11:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My car evidently has rudimentary Bluetooth. I can make calls but cannot stream audio from the phone. Have a good week, efd and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 9/7/16 11:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I can hook up a USB cable and play mp3 files off the phone, so there's that.
