Sat. 5/14/16 11:51am
P-90:
Just to clarify a small point: the "ooga-chakas" were not part of the original lyrics of "Hooked on a Feeling" and are not on the original1968 BJ Thomas #1 hit recording. The band Blue Swede added those as a gimmick to their (far inferior) 1974 cover version.
![]() |
Sat. 5/14/16 11:54am
Michael Shelley:
Actually - Blue Swede was copying (former guest) Jonathan King's cover |

Mark - I'm into it |
![]() |
![]() Somehow the Explorers Club have outdone themselves with this song. It's truly worthy of their role models. |
Sat. 5/14/16 12:06pm
P-90:
Of course I stand corrected, Jonathan King added the "ooga-chakas" first. Should probably keep my comments to myself; just for some stubbornly capricious personal reason I think folks should know they weren't part of Mark James's original idea...

Talkin about songs everyone knows. There are certain phrases that you can not start a sentence with, without the other person completing it with a song. As proof I offer up: "It's not unusual ... ". |

Sat. 5/14/16 12:24pm

But try this out, if you start a sentence with "Hello, it's me .." how would people musically complete it today? Juniper can tell everyone. |
