And the speaker is Peter Blegvad, who wrote zee words....

Norma Winstone I do adore.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:13pm Tony Coulter:

Sounds like the first line of a couplet.
Maybe:

"Norma Winstone I do adore.
How I wish she didn't snore."
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:14pm Mayuko:

@JtotheK oh thank you!! That was sorta "pop" show last night so it might have been suitable for outdoorsy activities.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:18pm Tony Coulter:

I'm looking forward to listening to it meself!
  Tue. 10/27/15 1:26pm Dean:

This Lizard has a bit of vibe of the Dutch band Solution from the same time.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:27pm Tony Coulter:

See what you mean. Lizard were from Australia.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:29pm Tony Coulter:

... and Minnesoda, I imagine, were from Minnesota.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:31pm Tony Coulter:

... and now, thrill to the sound of anglophone Canadians singing in French....
  Tue. 10/27/15 1:35pm Dean:

Minnesoda? Oh, yeah, like the state! Hadn't noticed before. (Cue Monty Python's "Mr. Smoketoomuch" routine.)

Here in Berkeley there is a complex of apartments called Hillside Village. If I remember correctly, that is how Hillage identifies himself on this album (or maybe it's on Gong's "You").
  Tue. 10/27/15 1:36pm Dean:

That's why the spaghetti looks pink! It's a salmon meatball!
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:38pm Tony Coulter:

Coming up after this Hillage track: the imitation Hillage. Quite a good knockoff too....
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:39pm Tony Coulter:

HEY!! The fish are rising, but this show's total is stuck in the mud. Please pledge if you can!! The station needs your help!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/27/15 1:42pm doctorjazz:

Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:53pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Stanley! Intergalactic space travelers need toilets too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/27/15 1:53pm Carmichael:

Heya Tony and friends, just tuning in. Missed some Caravan, but that's OK. Leftovers are always nice.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:54pm Peter Nelson:

Oh man....I missed Golf Girl. And the Salmon Song...wow!
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:55pm Sarah N:

Mr Sinclair on hammond - surely?!
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 1:59pm Tony Coulter:

Greetings, Carmichael, Peter, and Sarah!!

Yves Hasselmann was playing the part of Mike Ratledge / Dave Sinclair
  Tue. 10/27/15 2:00pm Dean:

Speaking of Hillage, a guitarist friend of mine from long ago, Dale Hauskins, was a huge Hillage fan, even traveled from Southern California to London to hang out with him. Later, he joined Switzerland's Flame Dream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2-jG8q96eY Here he sounds more like another of his heroes at the time, Allan Holdsworth, while the band is clearly aping Genesis. These days Dale plays reggae!
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:00pm listener james from westwood:

Been sunk in page proofs but have been enjoying the tunes!
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:00pm Sarah N:

Ooh - go Yves! Thanks Tony.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:01pm Tony Coulter:

Funny how many Canterbury lyrics are about the songs themselves or about performing them.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:02pm Tony Coulter:

@ James: Glad to hear it!
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:05pm Peter Nelson:

I've not heard this Peel session before. Amazing improv.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:10pm V Priceless:

fab show, Tony!
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:10pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, VP!
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:12pm Tony Coulter:

The Softs are backing Ayers on this track....
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:14pm Sarah N:

Another beautiful voice! The chocolate to Robert Wyatts vanilla...yum.
  Tue. 10/27/15 2:18pm Dean:

The food figures are getting out of hand here. Sarah riffs on ice cream, TC plays Hillage's fish song, there's a photo of a startled bowl of spaghetti gracing the page... And now? Egg!
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:19pm Tony Coulter:

Don't forget the Muffins.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:19pm holland oats:

i will be poached
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:20pm Tony Coulter:

Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:20pm Sarah N:

  Tue. 10/27/15 2:21pm Dean:

Peel Sessions...
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:23pm Sarah N:

And Julie's voice is the cherry on top.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:28pm Sarah N:

Talking of chocolate voices...Tony!
  Tue. 10/27/15 2:30pm Dean:

My own voice is more like a fine whine.
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:30pm Tony Coulter:

... er, thanks, Sarah! Being congested all the time helps. Adds texture....
Avatar Tue. 10/27/15 2:31pm Doug Schulkind:
