Listener comments!

Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 11:58am Tony Coulter:

Greetings, all. Today's show will be heavy on psych and prog ... unless the Lizard Squad takes us down, that is.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:00pm listener james from westwood:

Hey, Tony and all! Snow has not entombed me here in NJ, so I await the psych/prog blast with ears unclogged by snow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 12:01pm Uncle Michael:

Stream loudly so I can hear you in the shower.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:01pm Tony Coulter:

I will stream at the top of my lungs.

Heya Uncle M and Listener J!!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:03pm Doug Schulkind:

Maybe you should just steam, Tony.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:04pm holland oats:

hullos all around - stream until your streams come true sir coulter
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:04pm Tony Coulter:

Hola, Doug and Holland Oats!!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:05pm DCE:

hey tony c!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:06pm Tony Coulter:

Hey there, DCE!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

mah people.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:08pm Tony Coulter:

Turnip!! Mah root veg'tabul
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:08pm DCE:

sounds like this guy is singing about a jukebox hero
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:08pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

roots, man... roots.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:13pm Rich in Washington:

Greetings, Tony!
Good day, fellow Coulterites!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:14pm Tony Coulter:

Hey there, Rich in Washington (but poor in Oregon?)
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:16pm Rich in Washington:

I am! Historically, SW Washingtonians have this reputation of only crossing the border to buy stuff tax free. Plus, everything is there.
I have purposely curtailed most of my trips across the river to save money. It's not fair. P-Towners have all the record stores!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:17pm Rich in Washington:

So, long story short - when I'm in Oregon, I feel poor.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:24pm Tony Coulter:

The incredible number of record stores in Portland is definitely bad for my finances -- but good for this show, I suppose.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:28pm Tony Coulter:

For example, everything in the set so far was purchased in a Portland record store -- all of it used, btw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 12:30pm Carmichael:

Heya Tony, I loves me some prog!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:31pm DCE:

used music is best anyway!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:37pm Tony Coulter:

Greets, Carmichael! Prog will definitely burst forth at some point today....
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:39pm Tony Coulter:

This set, though, will be all Jesus-themed.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:39pm Tony Coulter:

Not that the Lord doesn't like a spot of prog.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:40pm DCE:

is there such a thing as Jesus-prog? I would have to imagine...
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:41pm Tony Coulter:

Definitely! There's plenty of it, actually.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:41pm Flash Strap:

I gotta thank you for turning me on to that Sgt. Death record
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:41pm Flash Strap:

Yeah, seems like a lot of classic prog has a crypto-christ component
  Tue. 1/27/15 12:41pm Dean:

To think that Silmaril was recorded shortly after "Selling England by the Pound" appeared. I'm thinking these folks are as Genesis- as Jesus-themed.
  Tue. 1/27/15 12:43pm Dean:

And this Ken Gaub precedes Christopher Cross by a year!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:43pm Tony Coulter:

Greetings, Flash Strap and Dean!!

Here's a good Jesus prog album: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:51pm Doug Schulkind:

@Flash Strap
There's a mighty thin line between crypto-christ and Creepy Christ.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:52pm glenn:

hell, if there's jesus porn, there's definitely jesus prog.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:52pm DCE:

geez this is toooo much
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:53pm DCE:

volume swells for Jesus!
  Tue. 1/27/15 12:54pm Dean:

Cripes. This guy studied with Grisey and Imbrie!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:56pm Tony Coulter:

... and was in the Duncan Trio! www.discogs.com...
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:56pm Tony Coulter:

Hola, Glenn!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 12:59pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

Hey Tony. Is this really a 2015 release? The last time i heard anything quite this bizarre was on Marty McSorley's show a couple of weeks ago when he played the WHOLE of L. Ron Hubbard's "Space Jazz" album ("soundtrack" to his novel "Battlefield Earth"). Also born of religious fervour (even if he made up the religion himself). Check that one, people, if you haven't heard it (some big name jazz players were hired for it too).
  Tue. 1/27/15 1:01pm Dean:

Composed in 2012: http://www.erlingwold.com/works.html Brand spanking new.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:02pm Tony Coulter:

Heya, Canterbury Wood-Elf! Yes, the Wold is a 2015 release. In fact it was released ... today!! The opera itself is from 2012, though, as Dean said.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:10pm DCE:

the Wold is a ghetto
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:12pm listener james from westwood:

Released today! Hot off the pressing!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:18pm Tony Coulter:

Yes, thankfully a few labels are still sending me advance promos out here in the boonies (hint, hint).
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:26pm DCE:

this is great!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:30pm Tony Coulter:

Believe it or not, this Jimmy Smack features processed bagpipes!
  Tue. 1/27/15 1:33pm Dean:

Are those like processed lunch meats?
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:36pm Tony Coulter:

Yes. Not as fresh-tasting as wild-caught bagpipes.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:36pm northguineahills:

Sitting here w/o hot water or heat since yesterday afternoon (hot water heater is kaput again). Freezing my keister off. The landlord gave us a decent space heater, but that just sucks electricity like nobody's business.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:37pm Tony Coulter:

You need an outer space heater. Hope things warm up soon!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:37pm DCE:

no fun, ngh...dream of spring
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:38pm northguineahills:

I have 5 scarfs on.... that helps....
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:39pm listener james from westwood:

Holy hell, NGH, hope repairs are in the works!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:43pm DCE:

ngh, the five-necked FMU fan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 1:44pm Uncle Michael:

This show's really starting to kick in man. I'm getting body rushes.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:44pm northguineahills:

Not familiar w/ JD Robb, nice..
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:50pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Good to see that Arcane Device getting some love.
...and this here Robb abstract analog witchcraft is doing the tricky...
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:51pm Rich in Washington:

Wonderfully odd set, Tony!
Listened to it all soaking in a hot tub, trying to burn off this infernal chest cold that's currently making the rounds.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:55pm Tony Coulter:

Stay away from Rich, infernal chest cold!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 1:58pm Tony Coulter:

No, this isn't *that* Colours (the one on Dot Records).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 1:59pm Uncle Michael:

I initially confused Colours with Coloured Balls.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:01pm Tony Coulter:

Coloured Balls are so embarrassing in the locker room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 2:03pm Carmichael:

Worse than Deflated Balls.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:06pm Tony Coulter:

United Travel Service were a Portland band....
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:08pm DCE:

you think Tom Brady suffers from that, Carm?
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:09pm northguineahills:

I might have to disassemble my hydra, the heat is finally back on.......
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 2:09pm Carmichael:

I think this is more like Space Folk, if there is such a category.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 2:11pm Carmichael:

@DCE, I think Bellichick suffers from that. Tom Brady is a Ken doll, with no genitalia at all.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:13pm DCE:

as a Clevelander, I am pogrammed to be anti-Bellichek so I'm with ya there
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:19pm DCE:

pass the crackers, the Cam & Bert is good cheese!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:22pm Tony Coulter:

Samurai = Web
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:22pm Tony Coulter:

... but not W.E.B.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 2:31pm Uncle Michael:

Is this crude or refined?
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:32pm Tony Coulter:

It's Texas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 2:33pm Uncle Michael:

I can almost smell the satin pants.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:39pm DCE:

boy he kind of turned into Jon Anderson at the end there
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:40pm Tony Coulter:

That's fer sure!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:40pm Tony Coulter:

Zoldar & Clark = Jasper Wrath
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 2:42pm Carmichael:

Zoldar & Clark was 1977, Tony.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:43pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Carmichael. This CD has more than what was on their LP. though ... so not sure when this cut was from.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 2:44pm Uncle Michael:

Is this guy kidding?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 2:44pm Carmichael:

Here you go: www.discogs.com... You can click through the LP link to compare tracks.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:45pm Tony Coulter:

@ Uncle Michael: Nope -- the wind IS his highway.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:47pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Carmichael!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:49pm DCE:

this fella sounds like Jon Wetton
  Tue. 1/27/15 2:49pm Dean:

@DCE, For better or worse, yes.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:49pm DCE:

Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:53pm Tony Coulter:

"Driving me crazy -- you with your mystic mind."
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:53pm Tony Coulter:

This *almost* turns into "Spooky" at points, no?
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:54pm DCE:

the "show me" band...
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:56pm DCE:

cute little synth squiggles :)
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:57pm DCE:

thanks Tony!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:57pm northguineahills:

Thanks Tony, great jams!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:58pm Rich in Washington:

thanks for a great show, Tony!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/27/15 2:59pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks, Tony.
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 2:59pm listener james from westwood:

Superb show, Tony; loved all the stops on this musical ride!
Avatar Tue. 1/27/15 3:00pm Tony Coulter:
