Thanks for listening to this episode of the Dusty Show. Not sure where you stand on gun control or exactly where I stand, either. These mass shooting situations, and gun violence in America seem out of hand, and Washington has little intention of acting on it. It's discouraging. That said, I do like to gather opinions on the street about such topics, since it seems all we see on the news is politicians carefully dancing around the subject. People in the real world generally seem to have more rational ways of looking at things. Most of the time anyway. Again, thanks for listening. Not an elaborate playlist, admittedly. Sometimes I'm just playing catch up. Take care dear listener and ... always remember.

to some extent, the question is, why is a document (the constitution) that was relevant 250 years ago relevant now? change it if it suits the times, i say.

Weird! My comments from the app on my iPhone did t come thru...worked this morning...HELLO!
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 6:11pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: America has a strong tradition of our written Constitution--it has changed, but as a whole helped us evolve into what we are. Even when we want changes to it, we don't want change *too* quickly; have to keep what's good and not throw that off.
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 6:11pm common:

good to hear you, clay!

The Pew Research Center says the U.S. gun homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010 than in 1993,
Other violent gun crime fell even more than that.
According to Pew 56% of Americans believe gun crime is higher today than 20 years ago.

i wish whenever anyone on US tv news asked anyone about guns, or health care, they would first point out the abundance of free health care and lack of gun related deaths in every other 1st world democracy. what is the deal with that
Avatar Thu. 9/19/13 6:47pm Night Al:

Dark Star...my first real band. We played my mom's wedding reception in 1976, our only paying gig. Taylor, Michigan...we played Grover Washington Jr's song Mr. Magic and some originals.
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 6:47pm Mike East:

They had a few other candidates, but their last name didn't start with P and they wanted to keep the ELP abbreviation.
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 6:48pm glenn:

IT'S NOT FREE. we pay for it with taxes.
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 6:49pm Matt from Springfield:

Gainsburgers!!! I guess pierre doesn't *need* to invent a Gainsbourger dish now, though I feel I would still prefer his to Purina's! :)
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 6:49pm Mike East:

@glenn - personally, I would prefer that system here.
  Thu. 9/19/13 6:50pm Clay Pigeon:

I'm semi-obsessed with Gainesburgers, MAtt. And to a lesser degree, Snausages.
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 6:50pm Matt from Springfield:

There ain't no "free" lunch - but health care is way more accessible in Canada than the US. Money keeps it locked up in the hands of fewer people here.
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 6:52pm Mike East:

yeah, and when your company decides they can't afford to provide a health care plan anymore, it leaves the employees stranded in an ocean of bullshit options.
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 6:52pm steve:

you're right glenn - how about "health care that is paid for by taxes and, overall, costs less per capita than US health care tax costs per individual, before the US individual even starts paying for his own private health insurace"
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 6:53pm Matt from Springfield:

Has that happened to you, Mike?
Avatar Thu. 9/19/13 6:53pm Night Al:

Always Remember...the Washington Navy Yard...
Avatar    Thu. 9/19/13 7:08pm Philthy woman:

This song always takes me back to Brigentine Castle (in NJ) even though this is not the version they played there. I had begged to go there for years, lured by the strange short commercials with bits of this song; I was obsessed. When I finally got there in october to this 'castle' on a pier on an empty beach blaring this song. I held steady to the door handle petrified as my sister tried to pry me off the car. Eventually she was successful and it was all worth it. Thanks for the memory Clay Pigeon!
