Anyon know where the "In America' radio spot is from?
Sat. 5/25/13 11:15am
Great show so far. Digging the Jordan, and never heard that particular George Jones song before. Number one hits indeed.
Sat. 5/25/13 11:16am
daniel johnston sounded great last night on primavera broadcast (imho). his band was tight too
Sat. 5/25/13 11:26am
I agree, Daniel Johnston and band were quite enjoyable.
Sat. 5/25/13 11:29am
I used to see Daniel Johnston hollering with his guitar on the streets of Austin back when. I thought he was merely that maniac who worked at the McDonald's. Shows what I know.
Sat. 5/25/13 11:31am
Wonderful music, as usual!
Sat. 5/25/13 11:32am
Danl J = Austin City Unlimited
Sat. 5/25/13 11:38am
All anyone needs to know about the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame is this:
James Taylor is in it; Link Wray isn't.
Sat. 5/25/13 11:42am
I always thought the solo was jacked from Take Five
Sat. 5/25/13 11:43am
You're right, that was really cool.
Sat. 5/25/13 11:43am
Great lyrics if you're a sophomore/junior in high school. Which is where the Doors peak demographic is.
Sat. 5/25/13 11:44am
Missed most of yesterday, didn't join the audience until Johnston. Let's hear it for the 'chives.
Sat. 5/25/13 11:44am
Juke Joint Jonny:
Now this is a good lyric. You get it in four syllables and no funeral pyres.
Sat. 5/25/13 11:45am
That Ray Manzarek recording would be so much better if he wasn't such a hero worshipping bootlicker.
Sat. 5/25/13 11:47am
Juke Joint Jonny:
And the Doors would be better without the poet/shaman. And a bass player.
Sat. 5/25/13 11:48am
off to the grocery store...catch ya in the car!
Sat. 5/25/13 11:55am
I think Morrison delivered a few decent pop songs.
Sat. 5/25/13 12:00pm
Juke Joint Jonny:
Andrew Waterloo: Agree, just saying uncritically taking Morrison's word for it that he's a poet is the road to a lot of pretentious tripe, and you end up like Ray Manzarek, sounding dumber than you clearly are (as you pointed out.)
Sat. 5/25/13 12:00pm
Clearly there is no one here from Long Island. I am not even going to bother bringing up the Allman Brothers.
Sat. 5/25/13 12:08pm
@JJJ Fully agree.
Sat. 5/25/13 12:12pm
O.V.! One of my happiest moving days was discovering that the youngish trucking crew from Charlotte had all somehow turned into OV Wright freaks and knew all his stuff. We dug out my stereo and it turned an ordeal into something better than tolerable.
Sat. 5/25/13 12:12pm
@Parq I'm sure we could all name a few.
Sat. 5/25/13 12:16pm
Nice, I used to love that O.V. Wright track and played it to near death like 10 years ago!
Sat. 5/25/13 12:17pm
Brian in UK:
@Moammar my ears did a double take when Overton Vertis hit the airwaves. Thanks Mr Shelley.
Sat. 5/25/13 12:30pm
Anybody old enough to remember when that Shakers song was the theme song for a television show in which off-Broadway hippies re-enacted folk tales?
Sat. 5/25/13 12:32pm
What television spectacle was that, Parq? I suppose it may be a handful of years before my (TV prime) time.
Sat. 5/25/13 12:33pm
swell show Mikey!
Sat. 5/25/13 12:35pm
Queens L. Bow:
Yes! It was Story Theatre...maybe it was on PBS? Definitely remember that as the theme song, didn't realize until later it was Stones song.
Sat. 5/25/13 12:40pm
I'd forgotten I ever heard this Thing About You so many times on the radio when it was charting...
Sat. 5/25/13 12:44pm
Sat. 5/25/13 12:57pm
Long John Neville? (before my time)
Sat. 5/25/13 12:58pm
some "good guys" (as i think MCA billed itself in the 70s)
