Yeah....pow!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:11am glenn:

meh. tim horton's is not all it's cracked up to be, believe me. he was a pretty good hockey player though.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:18am G:

As 1968 Detroit-area resident and Tigers rooter, I'll take Willie Horton instead :)
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:19am glenn:

hot-a-phonic todd?
  Sat. 3/9/13 11:19am Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Wake up people!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:19am glenn:

jeeeez. i'd take denny mclain.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:20am G:

That, too, glenn. Unfortunately, he had the wrong last name to showhorn him into the discussion! And McLain even has a non-mainstream music tie-in..
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:22am glenn:

i found out not too long ago that ernie harwell was also a songwriter.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:25am Brian C.:

Yo G: Little known fact about Willie Horton, he was the youngest of 21 children!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:25am tomB:

Kenny Vaughan was great w Marty Stuart at Lincoln Center Outdoors. Lanky w glasses indeed. Pledge
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:27am Brian C.:

I'm really bummed, it seems I missed some discusion about the Detroit Tigers. Did anyone mention the Bird?
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:28am tomB:

speaking of donuts, remember when Michael gave donut coupons as a marathon prize. Pledge!
  Sat. 3/9/13 11:30am Geokopp:

The explorers club broke up?! Wtf!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:32am tomB:

Saturday night was wonderful! The broken windshield in prehistoric Gowanus! The Moon Unit party! Put it on archive, I know you taped it. That's why I pledged!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:34am G:

@Brian: The discussion was Tim Horton's, which led me to Willie Horton. I'm not sure anyone else can take the blame for the Tiger comments :)
  Sat. 3/9/13 11:38am Tyler:

Hey, I pledged after Michael's show last week... I requested I Can Hear Music, of course. I'm in Kuwait with the Army (it's 7:30 pm here now), but my 09337 APO Zip code shows me in Germany on the map!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:40am Brian C.:

@G: Thanks for clarifying, I can work with that. '68 W.S. MVP Mickey Lolich was a donut shop owner! Go Tigs! Go fmu!!
  Sat. 3/9/13 11:41am Tyler:

That explains why Mickey Lolich got so fat!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:42am Mike East:

Hey glenn. Was that you who won Alex Chilton? I was gunnin' for that.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:43am glenn:

i watched the jays play the tigers in a spring training game on the tube, and i gotta say, that tigers cap with the white triangle thingy in the front is really ugly.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:43am Mike Sin:

Keep pledging, folks!... Todd A -- For clarity, that comment is on all my pledges because I submitted a pre-marathon pledge and it's divided among 24 shows or so... Hey, I'm insecure, but not that insecure!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:43am glenn:

yep. 'twas i.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:45am Mike East:

congrats
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:46am glenn:

tanx. i will enjoy it.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:46am Brian C.:

@glenn: Ugly isn't strong enough of a word! Almost makes me miss the caps with the Tiger stuffed inside the "D"
Avatar    Sat. 3/9/13 11:51am Ike:

Hey Tyler @11:38, you can make a manual entry on the map for Kuwait, if you want... I don't know if it'll work. Presumably you have to leave out the postal code though. www.wfmu.org...
How is Kuwait anyway? Decent local cuisine?
Avatar    Sat. 3/9/13 11:52am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Tyler - Thanks for serving your country and keeping WFMU in mind. Are there any Kuwaiti WFMU fans there?
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:52am Minnesota Jeff:

If you hate any of the baseball teams BP/Spring Training Caps just wait a few years until the release a newer more ugly version. Also, has the MLB revealed all of the "interview caps" which have a designed just for POST GAME TV INTERVIEWS! Ugh.
  Sat. 3/9/13 11:53am Paul:

Mike I love ya but ya gotta stop smacking!
  Sat. 3/9/13 11:55am Tyler:

Ike: tried that. Didn't seem to work.
Ken: Don't know of any other WFMU fans here but there will soon be stickers on things here. PS I have a house in Clermont!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:56am Brian C.:

(apologies to baseball haters)
@Minnesota Jeff: What's the weather like in MN in early April? Tigs season opens up there -- does Selig realize the Twins no longer play in a dome?
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 11:57am G:

@MN Jeff: New and disimproved! Now with more than twice the superactivated kitsch factor!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:01pm Minnesota Jeff:

Brian C: Well, I don't have the numbers - but I believe the stats for rain delays/snow delays between Target Field/Met Stadium (before the dome) are about on par with any other Northern team in the league. It certainly can snow in April here, but Cleveland had a Snow Delay a few years ago. So...yeah.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:07pm glenn:

interview caps? i think i missed that.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:08pm Minnesota Jeff:

glenn: deadspin.com...
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:08pm glenn:

i always want to say mahmoud with a scottish accent. -MAACHMOOOD!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:10pm glenn:

oh dear heavenly jesus. i wish ty cobb was still around so he could tell bud selig to fuck off.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:12pm G:

@glenn: and spike him real good sliding in at second during the annual player-frontoffice charity game. we can dream.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:12pm glenn:

that's pronounced shivon.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:17pm Mike East:

looks like I'm up for the Liars CD. fingers crossed!
Avatar    Sat. 3/9/13 12:18pm fred:

@glenn: Ty Cobb? Get Spaceman Lee or Oil Can Boyd instead, and make them wear the caps. Selig fears embarassment more than anything else
Sat. 3/9/13 12:19pm craig in morristown:

Saw the Lyres at Maxwells when the drummer threw the snare at Mono Man... a little tension in the band!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:20pm Matt F:

This is my favorite Lyres song.
Hey Todd, all the playlist comments remind me that me & Belock were talking about making good on your threat from the other day and doing a sports talk show a la World's Greatest Music Experts. We could even do it on one of the alternate streams so there could be cursing.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:21pm Minnesota Jeff:

As a Minnesotan I must specify, I am a HOCKEY FAN - I just happen to have this small bit of baseball information.
  Sat. 3/9/13 12:24pm Sean T.:

I once went to a book signing for a Drew Friedman book and as part of the event Joe Franklin was there, introducing him was "F-troops" Larry Storch. Absolutely surreal moment.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:30pm Minnesota Jeff:

Michael: I am planning on getting your "cut up" premium from the Warehouse this year.
  Sat. 3/9/13 12:32pm Geokopp:

We saw that amazing Wanda Jackson show @ Maxwells recently! Was great, especially when Wanda's husband paid the band in cash onstage while they were still playing! Old school show biz moment!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:38pm joe:

ZOMBIES SO GOOD!!!!!
  Sat. 3/9/13 12:39pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Hey George- Indeed, that was classic!
  Sat. 3/9/13 12:39pm Red:

nobody is doing what Michael is doing on the radio. #1 Hits plus great interviews and info, not to mention his pet gripes, is a formula for real quality broadcasting.
Sat. 3/9/13 12:40pm Rick in WO Town:

Shelley's premium last year was the best of any premium I got. " Different for Girls" -- "Right Back Where We Started" Look forward to this year's.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:42pm Doug Schulkind:

Amataitai line-up:

Mntima Dube - Lead Guitar;
Thomas Motshwane - Rhythm Guitar;
Lameck Moloi - Bass;
Dan Van Wyk - Drums
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:42pm Lewis:

The problem with last year's premium was that I didn't want to break the shrink wrap... Beautiful stuff!
  Sat. 3/9/13 12:43pm Geokopp:

Super Hits of the Seventies is truly a home run!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:44pm Lewis:

@Doug - sorry to miss you yesterday. I got distracted by many things but never fear, I will be checking in in one way or another. My daughter says that spring is in the air at Pburg...
  Sat. 3/9/13 12:44pm Jimmy Wipper:

Very cool that the legendary Key Wilde did the artwork for the cd!
  Sat. 3/9/13 12:46pm 404 not found:

Musicians have to have a thick skin. Not fan, really. But when a DJ says " when he used to be good" must not be great thing to hear.
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:46pm Doug Schulkind:

@Lewis!
Avatar Sat. 3/9/13 12:46pm Jimmy Wipper:

I mean, the layout!
