You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Avatar Mon. 12/17/12 9:46pm Dan B:

Hey Brian
  Mon. 12/17/12 9:46pm Destroit:

hello Dan, Richard and all the good ones. Umm, that Lonnie Hollie track was incredible.
Mon. 12/17/12 9:48pm Richard from Venezuela:

Hi Destroit. Nadja's track sounds good.
Avatar Mon. 12/17/12 9:51pm Dan B:

Hey Destroit, yes, the Lonnie Holley record is unbelievable through and through. I think someone here at WFMU is working on having him play here. Can't get the record out of my head lately!
  Mon. 12/17/12 9:51pm Andrew Waterloo:

For some reason the Nadja made me think of the Boris and Ian Astbury EP
  Mon. 12/17/12 9:59pm Destroit:

You had me at "deep ambient textural music". Lonnie in studio would be spectacular. I haven't heard anything that good in quite some time.
  Mon. 12/17/12 10:10pm Marmalade Kitty:

Hi Dan & everyone! I'm just admiring my Christmas tree =) is more psychedelic this year, after last years minimalist effort..
Great tunes man!!
  Mon. 12/17/12 10:11pm AN:

Ah... it's the Children... ;} Not the best choice, but still... it is the most offensive...
Avatar Mon. 12/17/12 10:16pm Dan B:

@AN, there was some debate here about what was the "best choice" from the Children album -- that one seemed to be the consensus on this end. Mmmmm...burnt raver...crispy.
  Mon. 12/17/12 10:21pm steve:

wow, brutal story
  Mon. 12/17/12 10:23pm AN:

You tell those boys they don't know their own best music... ;}
  Mon. 12/17/12 10:28pm ADM:

I must say DB, wonderful transition from the near-death track to the biker period.
  Mon. 12/17/12 10:29pm G:

MK roickin' the comments as always at 3:10 AM her time :)
Avatar Mon. 12/17/12 10:37pm Dan B:

@MK, heya -- we decorated the tree at my in-laws' place two nights ago and it was awesome -- loads of old civil-rights-era political buttons mixed with decorations from Mexican, Africa, the Midwest, etc. The tree at my house went up tonight in my absence, but I will enjoy it when I get home. @ADM, thank you! Always nice to be recognized for doing something right.
  Mon. 12/17/12 10:42pm 12539:

(live session sounding very good...shhhh)
  Mon. 12/17/12 10:43pm AN:

Kirsten is a nice addition, I'm enjoying live more than album, and I like the album a lot. These guys are always better live though... regardless of the band they're in.
Avatar Mon. 12/17/12 10:43pm Dan B:

(hi @12539)
Avatar Mon. 12/17/12 10:45pm Dan B:

@AN, wasn't Kirsten on the album too? She's listed in the credits. But yes, this group definitely gets to something live that is unique and distinct from the record, which I also loved.
  Mon. 12/17/12 10:46pm Destroit:

This is beyond spectacular...so good...
Avatar Mon. 12/17/12 10:50pm Dan B:

These guys definitely know what they're about
  Mon. 12/17/12 10:53pm AN:

Never heard Kirsten play live with the boys before tho... sorry, that was the point. Tired, not being clear... Seen/heard multiple versions of Jim and Phil and John playing together. Always enjoyed. Like the 3 live with the addition of Kirsten... and the album sounds different than the live. Not familiar with Kirsten's work other than on Trees...
  Mon. 12/17/12 11:02pm amEdeo:

Really, really, REALLY good stuff Dan. This is spectacular.
Avatar Mon. 12/17/12 11:10pm Dan B:

@AN, ah, that makes sense. @amEdeo -- yes yes yes. This material is all from the album Trees, not that it sounds like the album in any particularly close manner.
  Mon. 12/17/12 11:35pm AN:

I freaking love this song!
  Mon. 12/17/12 11:40pm AN:

Thanks for having Jim & Phil & John & Kirsten on. Great to hear them.
Mon. 12/17/12 11:46pm dan in Falls Church VA:

dammit, I forgot to come here at 9 pm!!!! :( :( only 15 min. left
  Mon. 12/17/12 11:48pm Destroit:

Thank you very much. Outstanding. Best radio show on the planet. Cheers to all!
Avatar Mon. 12/17/12 11:53pm Dan B:

dan in falls church -- the archive will be up in an hour or so! @Destroit, g'night and thanks for tuning in.
Avatar Mon. 12/17/12 11:53pm Dan B:

Gonna end with a bang -- Neneh Cherry remixed by Merzbow!!!
  Mon. 12/17/12 11:58pm steve:

wow
  Mon. 12/17/12 11:58pm 12539:

Thanks, Dan & guests.
