Very old school calypso - from Trinidad but he wound up in New York too. Actually it's his fault I got into WFMU - heard one of his tracks on the BBC World Service and couldnt get the track "Black But Sweet" out of my head for weeks - googled around, but there was very little information, except for a post on the WFMU blog, complete with tracks.. The rest as the say, is history!

Michael, there are several Houdini tracks on Irwin's two Muriel's Treasures DJ-premium discs. I particularly recommend one about, and called, "Frank Sinatra", in which the singer tries to persuade the Chairman to partner with him in a calypso act.

hey MS, totally oft subject, but i am finally reading Hartman's The Wrecking Crew -- he accurately credits dennis wilson, in his book. it was in an interview (not yours) i heard, that he made it sound like blaine had played on some of the early hits, too. the book rectifies that, though. also: didn't get to listen live - but, both Lowe interviews are some of the best i have ever heard, or read...excellent work, friendo!! xxxcm
