Always wondered how much hearing Mr. Lowe had left after surviving Rat Scabies' cymbals assault on Damned Damned Damned. Great album, great production. You hear everything.

Great set so far. My intro to Nick's work was thru Live Stiffs with Nick, Wreckless Eric, Ian Dury, Elvis and Larry Wallis. What happened to Larry? He was great... on that one single.

Nick wrote the greatest rock and roll song of all time. Of course that would be "What's So Funny about Peace Love and Understanding." I give thanks.

I think Doug Yule sings on Who Loves the Sun and other tuneful VU tracks like Candy Says. But yes...Lou barely tries anymore. I saw some live footage of him doing White Light/White Heat with Metallica that was truly shameful.

Didn't Doug Yule sing lead on Who Loves the Sun?

Lately this has been a mainstay of my playlist when out playing: just Love Laura Lee and this has some great hooks. BTW, Nick Lowe once said the last great bass line written was in Mr. Big Stuff. ALL NUMBER 1 hits!! Keep em coming!

kat330:
Well, shucks, apparently "Shelley, My Love" is to be "Never My Love," Brian. At least today, here and now. There's always next week. ;}

Above and Beyond (The Call of Love) That Conway Twitty version of Above and Beyond doesn't appear on Wiki, either in a title search or a Twitty discography search. Congratulations, Michael. I'll confess my first impulse was to check which of Twitty's or Owens' versions was earlier, so I rushed to Wiki. So if the Twitty version was a '70s retro thing on a Nashville afternoon, I can't hear production decades very well.
