Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/5/12 9:14am Liz B.:

Thanks so much to all of you who pledged to the Marathon! I suspect we'll make the goal soon! Our interwebs are acting up today, so if you are experiencing slowness, it may be due to something other than a case of the Mondays.
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:17am Lucas:

I was checking all the time; I was very happy this morning when i saw fmu got 99% !!!!
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:17am Christopher I:

  Mon. 3/5/12 9:22am pierre:

i'd be interested to know how many the Hoof&Mouth @Maxwells did raise by itself, from my calculus, it should be around 5% which is pretty great ! Anyways that was a great night, i used it as a lullaby. :)
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:22am other david:

Good Morning Liz & Listeners.

Congrats on raising so much and thank you so much for your hard work

Dear Ms. Berg, Thank you for allowing our pal X.Ray Burns to proudly represent the IBJ in last evenings festivities. It's amazing how entertaining a drunkard can be!

I see pledges are still coming in, so maybe we'll be able to collectively shout "gooooooooooooaaaal!" at some point today and startle our families and co-workers :)
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:29am dc pat:

eh, 99% is almost the same thing as 100%
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:29am Skirkie:

I for one am glad X-Ray didn't have the clown paint on.

P.S. Sleep is for the week.

  Mon. 3/5/12 9:32am Gord:

X. Ray is always an ace raconteur. Cheers to Liz, FMU, and all the listeners and volunteers who showed their support. And, incidentally, no need to stop pledging.
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:33am aq:

wfmu just can't help but exclude the 1%
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:34am Skirkie:

Is it true the video stream cut off at midnight?
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:35am aq:

That's amazing you came so close.

Wow. It's only 9:39 am and Liz is already 96% of the way to her goal.
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:41am Lucas:

I agree with Cecile. I hope every year the support will be larger and WFMU. New friends of mine pledged for their very first time this year. I was very proud of them

Nice to have a day off and be able to tune in to your show, Liz.
Keep a few bottles of champagne in the fridge, you might reach your goal very soon. great job by all the WFMU staff and volonteers during these 2 past weeks.
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:57am lewis:

one on my favorite times at wfmu is the week after the marathon - the music roles smoothly and there is a sense of calm that inspires
  Mon. 3/5/12 9:59am Cecile:

What happened to Ronnie?
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:00am BenG:

Yeah, everybody's happy. The DJ's crawl back into their nooks and let more music out to play.
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:04am pierre:

Pierre Vassiliu one of my personal favourite !
Have you ever heard "film" ? Well you should…
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:04am Parq:

'Cile, let's put it this way. He's going to save a lot of money on food and new clothing from now on.
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:06am ranjit:

Whoo, this is one of my favorite sets ever, from Terry Riley on. Hooray for 99% funded!
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:09am Cecile:

I found out, that's too bad. Sammy Hagar was saying on That Metal Show that Montrose should have regrouped w/o him and a new singer- he was saying "they still have a lot of music left to play." I guess not!

Ha ha, Cheri-Pi, that's exactly what my bf said!
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:26am Cheri Pi:

Those crazy Japanese-I'm reading that section now in the Retromania book. they know us better than we know ourselves.
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:32am pierre:

@Cheri Pi : i've finished it not long ago and missed a conference w/ Simon Reynolds not long afterwards… so i can't speak about what i've read, and feel a little alone. Would you be interested in telling me what's your thoughts on this book?
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:34am Cheri Pi:

Of course Pierre! I'm almost finished, everyone should read this book-it's so important!
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:35am Sam:

Good morning! Congratulations on the successful marathon! Long live WFMU.
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:37am dc pat:

Great group name!
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:38am Lucas:

Hey Pierre is there a pocket version?
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:38am pierre:

I mean, i'm not the most aware person there is. But since i read it, i keep seeing "retromania" related things everywhere, starting by the movie The Artist, i mean a silent movie in the 2010's what can be more "retromania" than this(?)
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:39am Skirkie:

Featuring Ira Kaplan on everything.
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:39am Lucas:

It maybe has a lot to see with the ready made idea
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:40am Cheri Pi:

@Pierre-I know what you mean! There are many friends here who are Northern Soul collectors, I think it's a little funny now.
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:40am Lucas:

the problem is the uncritical repetition of things
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:42am Sam:

Great critique of retromania and nostalgia by Michael Musto: http://www.villagevoice.com/2012-02-29/columns/Michael-Musto-Nostalgia-Wussified-Culture/
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:43am Cheri Pi:

thanks Sam
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:44am dc pat:

although, the Throw Ups is better....hmm, has that been taken?
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:45am Danne D:

Hey Liz :)
Welcome to the quietest week of the year on FMU (in terms of DJ talk)
And in that spirit, I'm gonna kick back and listen now!
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:48am pierre:

Merci Sam

I'm agreeing w/ Reynolds on the fact that Nostalgia has taken a weird importance.
On another way, i'm thinking that the book was written by a music critic, thus it's a person who has a great and wide knowledge of music culture and underground culture in general, the same that are reachable now to anyone through the web. And i can't help but sometimes feel a little negative critic from S.Reynolds to this web culture. I don't know, i'm surely mistaken.
  Mon. 3/5/12 10:48am joe:

Great job last night and with everything over the last two weeks
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/5/12 10:59am Liz B.:

yeah, cheers to you and all the FMUers!
  Mon. 3/5/12 11:04am drewo:

Thanks Liz and WFMU for another wonderful marathon. I am suffering Marathon Comedown today... maybe I should resort to the archives! There is no other institution as magical as WFMU. Fly the freeform flag high and proud!
Mon. 3/5/12 11:06am fred von helsing:

same as the Suburban Lawns version? don't think so..
  Mon. 3/5/12 11:08am jk:

morning Liz, I listened to more wfmu in the past two weeks than in any other two weeks throughout the rest of the year. You guys do amazing things, congratulations on being so close to your goal
  Mon. 3/5/12 11:13am Doctor B.:

You're putting together one hell of a "space mix", a phenomenon which occurs far too seldom on the free-form station I spin for.

Go, Liz! Oh, and I'm glad you came *that close* to your goal. WFMU has a lot of friends out there. And no wonder!

(Goldfrapp? I thought it was Donna Summer! :) ).
  Mon. 3/5/12 11:20am Deepak:

goldfrapp is great.

  Mon. 3/5/12 11:25am dc pat:
