Hey Joe!
  12:08am
Joe McG:

Hey, BG13! How is you?
  12:09am
Bette D.:

Fasten your seat belts!
  12:10am
blackgreen13:

excellent... loved that opener
  12:10am
Joe McG:

From one Betty to another Bette....
  12:18am
Matt from Springfield:

Hey Joe!
Two early 60s guys becoming successful again in the early 70s--but together this time!
  12:19am
Joe McG:

Indeed, Matt. Howdy to you!
  12:20am
Matt from Springfield:

What does "ten and two" mean? Why not just twelve? And am I sounding unhip by asking this? :)
  12:22am
Matt from Springfield:

Yowzah! That sounded like a CD skipping, but it worked out VERY well!
  12:27am
Joe McG:

Re: "ten and two": usually refers to steering wheel, no? Maybe the idea is to "steer" those gals away from the corner!
  12:32am
Matt from Springfield:

Hmm. Good idea as any.

I know of the "Rock Your Baby" song from 1974, so I looked it up now--apparently the backing track was recorded by KC and the Sunshine Band, but no one could hit the high notes. They asked George's wife Gwen, but she was late to the recording session, so George ended up recording it and getting the biggest hit of his career!
  12:34am
Joe McG:

Great story, Matt!
  12:37am
T-Zero:

Vampin Joe McGasko, good evening to you.
  12:40am
Matt from Springfield:

Mr. Indradat! One of the best engineers we got! We LOVE you Ernie!
  12:47am
cheri:

fleep:

Are we not Elvis? We are Devo. Evening Joe.
  12:49am
Matt from Springfield:

@fleep Just thinking of that myself!
  12:50am
Joe McG:

Evenin', fleep. I'm devolving, as usual.
  12:50am
Matt from Springfield:

@cheri Sure, why stop now? Keep it up!
  12:52am
Joe McG:

@cheri: You could always wear your cheri mask.
  12:54am
cheri:

thanks again joe,,
  12:55am
cheri:

well g'night joe,, see you soon,,,and night all!!!
  12:57am
T-Zero:

A bit of disco rough with Kurt Dahlke?
  12:57am
Matt from Springfield:

Gettin' into a groove here! Don't you normally save these trancey beat songs for the third hour? :)
  12:58am
Joe McG:

@Matt: I'm messin' with you tonight, Matt!
  12:58am
fleep:

Searching for Pyrolator turns up link after link for oil filters ... sigh
  12:58am
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, and a sudden transition to Lebanese rap! Freeform is freedom! AND vice versa!
  1:00am
Joe McG:

@fleep: That song was more about pigs on trains, I think, so no oil filters needed!
  1:00am
blackgreen13:

I guess this is Arabic? Sounds fantastic
  1:01am
cheri:

ohh joe if you see julie tell her that cheri says hello,, ty
  1:16am
Matt from Springfield:

Cosmic! Groovy!
  1:19am
Matt from Springfield:

Urge to have Tequila coming on!
  1:26am
Matt from Springfield:

Clay Pigeon!
And, Pink Fairies! Do it Joe!
  1:28am
T-Zero:

So! Pyrolator wasn't Kurt Dahlke?
  1:29am
Joe McG:

Sorry, T-Zero, yes it is he!
  1:32am
T-Zero:

Ok. I'm so confused. I thought on the mic break you said it was someone from WFMU. (Bear with me. I'm tried and was laying down while listening.)
  1:33am
Joe McG:

Oh, no. Tony Coulter, one of our greatest ever DJs, used to open his program years ago with a Pyrolator song.
  1:34am
Chop Scott:

JOE-
You are a good man, as ever THANKS!
  1:34am
T-Zero:

Ahhhh. Ok.
  1:36am
Droll:

Hands down this Stranded in the Laneway tune has the most out of tune guitars of any record anywhere ever. More out of tune than even Velvet Underground.
  1:37am
Joe McG:

Hey, Chop Scott! @Droll: It's a beautiful thing, innit?
  1:38am
Joe McG:

Sock it to the fat part!
  1:44am
Matt from Springfield:

FREDA! Another one of my favs! Such a great, soulful high vocal!
  1:47am
Matt from Springfield:

And hey, it's my Revival! ;)
1973, pretty good pop rock.
  1:48am
Joe McG:

@Matt: Very Holliesesque. You did a nice job.
  1:49am
T-Zero:

Does Tony Coulter still do a regular show on an alternate stream? I saw from a search he did a show on the 13th that must have been a fill-in for someone. I must have missed that. (I think this bad tooth is interfering with my brain function.)
  1:49am
Matt from Springfield:

It does remind me of late 60s Hollies a lot.
  1:50am
Matt from Springfield:

@T-Zero: Tony Coulter has a show on the Give The Drummer Some alt stream, on Tuesdays but only every other week. Look at his schedule and the times of comments and you can figure out when.
  1:52am
Joe McG:

@T-Zero: What's going on with your tooth?
  1:52am
Matt from Springfield:

It appears Tuesdays, 12-3 p.m. There was a show on Sep 13, so Tony fans will have to wait till the Tuesday after next.
  1:53am
T-Zero:

Ah. I got it, Matt. Tuesday's at noon. When I looked at it his playlists, that must have been where the 13th came from. Thanks!
  1:57am
Matt from Springfield:

My pleasure T-Zero!
  1:57am
T-Zero:

@Joe McG: Oh, you know... the usual, Lack of finances and insurance to have proper dental care... on-going teeth trouble. Need dentures I can't afford.... But have a specific toot that's really hurting...
  1:58am
cheri:

night joe
  2:00am
Matt from Springfield:

Oooh, feel sorry for you T-Zero. I hate that anyone has to deal with a lingering tooth problem without getting it fixed.
  2:00am
Joe McG:

night cheri
  2:01am
tomB:

reLaine&Baker: didn't know there was a single in'70, bought th LP more for Laine than Baker (Adrian Gurvitz was also a member). Alas there was nothing at the level of "Stop" or "From the Bottom of My Heart" let alone "Go Now"
  2:01am
Matt from Springfield:

And, being great at following up, Joe concludes with Part 2 of "Party Bump"! But, there's also another Part 1, "I Can Never Be Satisfied", that we need to hear Part 2 for!
  2:02am
Joe McG:

@T-Zero: I understand some of your pain. I have a problem on one side now, can't nothin' cold touch it or it HURTS. I'm scared to think about what it might cost since I'm insuranceless....
  2:05am
T-Zero:

Thanks, Matt.

@Joe... Yeah. I was curb checked in a bashing long ago and lost most of my teeth from that. This one, though, isn't so much the tooth itself, as the gum at the base of the tooth. It's not sensitive to either hot or cold, it's more constant. But anyway... no one needs to be exposed here to my personal probleems. But I appreciate our concern. Thanks!
  2:09am
12539:

(@Joe, http://kevincoynepage.free.fr says "Ze-Ze-Ze-Ze / And I Wonder" was 1970)
  2:10am
Dan McFakename:

Just curious Joe, if you hate that Springfield Revival a side so much, what possessed you to get the single?
  2:10am
Matt from Springfield:

Still potentially more hurricanes to come in the autumn! Always worth reminding. Gooooo PSAs!
  2:11am
fleep:

Don't forget the booze. They never mention booze.
  2:11am
tomB:

Tony always pronounced Pyrolator as Purolator like the filter. &Detroiters seem to pronounce the suburb as Hamtramick, but w barely a vowel between th m&ck. Just sayin. More importantly, the cut Tony played was reminiscent of "Percolator" c.1962
  2:12am
Jay/ London:

good morning joe and all have just tuned in what's going on joe sounds like the play war of the worlds !!!
  2:15am
Joe McG:

@12539: Thanks for the date! @Dan: Impulse buy! @Matt: I have a promo copy of that Sir Mack Rice single--no Part 2, alas! @Jay: Hey, Jay!!
  2:16am
marc:

what language was that?
  2:16am
T-Zero:

Hey, Jay. Morning.
  2:17am
Joe McG:

@marc: Hey, Marc, that was Norwegian. Any Norwegians out there that can translate?
  2:18am
Jay/ London:

@ t-zero sun woke me up ... sorry about your tooth hope the music this morning will help with the pain
  2:20am
T-Zero:

Thanks, Jay. Feels like someone rammed a needle under the gum. ;( The music does help. It's a pleasant distraction.
  2:28am
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, early 70s era English folk! Another one of my fav "third hour trance-outs" here! Really nice tonight, thanks Joe!
  2:28am
Jay/ London:

@ t-zero have you put some oil of cloves on the tooth ?
  2:29am
Joe McG:

@Matt: Not British yet, but heading that way, Matt. You're psychic!
  2:31am
T-Zero:

@Jay: Liquid Oragel (topical anesthetic) and taking ibuprofen but I used up the last of the Oragel earlier. But it really only helped for a few minutes anyway.
  2:34am
Jay/ London:

@ t-zero never heard of oragel is that the same as oil of cloves go get some when the shops open
  2:37am
Jay/ London:

ahh julie covington great voice i remember she was in a tv show about a all girl group
  2:37am
T-Zero:

Jay > Orajel ... http://tinyurl.com/6cube5d
  2:38am
Joe McG:

@Jay: Was that "Rock Follies"?
  2:38am
Matt from Springfield:

LIVE Richard & Linda, excellent, Joe!
  2:38am
tomB:

@Jay&TZero: Oil of cloves is truly amazing, but in a pinch I've soake a clove from the spice cabinet in hot water for a few minutes, masticated gently w working teeth, & then held it in position at the painful area.
  2:40am
Brian in UK:

Mornin' Joe. Yes it was Rock Follies.
  2:42am
T-Zero:

@tomB: Yeah. I've done that before too.
  2:42am
Jay/ London:

yeah that was it the rock follies would love them to put it on dvd ... guess you have not got it handy this morning there were some nice slow tracks on it you could play but guess thats a no :)
  2:43am
T-Zero:

@tomB: Plus the boiling cloves make the flat smell nice. :)
  2:44am
Joe McG:

@Jay and Brian: Was "Rock Follies" a good show?
  2:46am
Jay/ London:

@Joe McG yeah it was ground breaking at the time
  2:47am
tomB:

@joe: I was just reading about Julie Covington this evening, & was surpised to see she' sung b/up to Linda T. on Shoot out th Lights LP. She's no LT, certainly no SD, but I'm glad you played her anyway, & hope you play more in the future; I always mix her up w Christine Collister. I think my soundtrack LP (not Rock Follies) w Richard T &Julie C ended up w Irene.
  2:50am
Joe McG:

@tomB: Yeah, actually Richard Thompson is all over her solo album. I agree she's no Linda, but she does a couple of good ones. I hate to bring up Kate Bush, but she does a good version of "Kick Inside." With John Cale on piano!
  2:53am
tomB:

@Joe: By all means bring up Kate Bush! More people should do her songs. Btw, what guy did "Runnin up that Hill" at the conclusion of each episode (&even trailer for Ken Burns' WW2).
  2:55am
Brian in UK:

I'm biased as regarding rock when it's dramatised. It was good that it was on the TV and presented women. Albeit as 'chicks'.
  2:57am
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Joe for another fine edition!
Have a great night all!
  2:57am
T-Zero:

@tomB: Is oil of cloves better than the Orajel?
  2:58am
T-Zero:

Thanks for the great show, and your concern Joe. Have a great week.
  2:59am
12539:

Thanks for not letting me sleep, Joe.
  3:00am
Joe McG:

Thanks for listening, everybody! Had a great time, catch you next time!
