I'd like to request "Wild Wild West" by The Escape Club. That or side two of INXS' Kick. Whichever is easier.

@Dan: i encourage you to check out Youssef's work. He's a terrific composer, vocalist and oud player, influenced by sufism. Maybe the best way to begin is Electric Sufi on Enja Rec.

Rob W:
I'm not sure that we have any Dhafer Youssef in the FMU library Looms (and Dan) - I have played him on my show a couple of times from my own collection. While sometimes he gets a little too polished in his esthetic for my taste, I agree he's an interesting and creative artist.
|
Sun. 8/22/10 8:26am
Dan B:
@Rob, I checked -- we don't have anything in the library.
|
Sun. 8/22/10 8:26am

Feel the same way about his recent releases, Rob. Still interesting on stage though.

Chris from DC:
That time stretch program they used for the Beiber thing is fun to play with. I have this 3 minute recording of a carousel stretched to 45 minutes.
|
Sun. 8/22/10 8:41am
Tom L:
800% more interesting.
|
Sun. 8/22/10 8:42am
Dan B:
@Rob, thanks! @Chris, I tried to stretch something out, but it was going to take a million years on my computer. @Tom, you hit the nail on the head. There's basically no music that sounds worse slowed down 800% or more. Just part of my continuing quest to make crappy records sound half decent through intervention.
