Options April 1, 2010: Yankee Eagle Leader - A Story by Clay Pigeon / Palinmix

Listen to this show:

Artist Track Album Label Format Comments Year
I wrote this show hastily, the night before broadcast, and then just read it into my Optimus Micro-Cassette. Then I dubbed it down to my RS-B11W. Then I rolled in some old wax. The Palinmix is Garageband on a laptop using the condensor mic to record an Optimus Microcassette recording of the TV. The Simon and Garfunkel is manditory in early April.

Opening Salvo - An imaginary radio conversation between two insurgents as they ready themselves to participate in an invasion from within of the United States. *Note the mix-up on the 16 and 17 thing. That was a mistake on my part. This section of the program is improvised.

Following the radio conversation introduction, the show morphs into a short story that I wrote (hastily, the night before the broadcast).
Jordan De La Sierra  Music From The Hearts Of Space   Options Gymnosphere - Song of the Rose - Music for the Well-Tuned Piano  Unity  LP  This is the music behind the story introduction. A project of Mickey Hart's, from the Dead.  1977

Catching Bullheads and Chubs

Old KIOA jingle from the '70's. I grew up listening to KIOA out of Des Moines, Iowa. Here's a link to the jingle site. --- http://www.desmoinesbroadcasting.com/kioa/kioa-jingles.html

The Explosion Uptown

Everything Goes Dead
Tim Story  Glass Green   Options Glass Green  Windham Hill  LP  The moody music before Dave comes in the back door. I use this LP a lot for atmosphere on the DS. I love it, very sad and evocative. Two of my favorite things. I wrote Tim Story once and he replied nicely, too. That's worth a good 25 pts.  1987

The Arrival of Dave

Heading North on 71

Canada
Here's an example of where I jumped the shark on this episode, and made myself mad! Why would they go to Canada??? Why wouldn't they fight??? In this regard, I wish I had taken more time on this episode, A rewrite and revision was definitely in order.

Back in the SUV

Gunfire! The Big Pickup
Grrr - I really should have given the man in the pickup's voice the "coming over a loudspeaker" treatment for greater authenticity. This is the kind of thing that makes this episode fall short for me. Grr.

Shootin' Democrats
Synergy  Disruption in World Communications   Options Cords  GRT  LP  Good Old Boys in the Pickup - Larry Fast synthesized guitar music. Early use of that technology.  1977

A rather awkward passage in the story where I am outwardly wrestling with the plot. The whole Canada thing comes to bear here, and I do wish I had better fleshed out the concept. Live and learn, my friends, live and learn.

Hope you enjoyed the show. It was a little careless I suppose, and was not meant to indict anyone. Just a vision manufactured by too much talk radio, huffpo and various media in overload mode. Anyway ... thanks for listening. It's appreciated. Nice out today. Spring's coming. I wish it would snow. I needed one more blue run. Fun. Well. Adios mi amigos y amigas. Weidersehn und aloha. Goodbye.

always remember

Clayderman
