Rachel Malheure:

Sun. 2/21/10 6:46am
Tom L:
Dan, please promise that if you don't get to play all the awful things everyone sent in that you'll at least destroy them privately. We need that comfort.

Sun. 2/21/10 8:10am
Looms:
Hate heroic guitar solos! Tom's right, this deserves to fall into oblivion!
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:11am
Tom L:
Henry Townsend is incredibly rare. A copy sold for $2,000 at auction. See http://tinyurl.com/yhhtkp8
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:15am
Tom L:
@Looms, glad you agree. The "heroic" guitar solo is grotesque.
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:18am
Al H.:
Hahaha, you got Rick Rolled!
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:20am

Sun. 2/21/10 8:36am
Rachel Malheure:
Another "it" I'd honestly love to smash is "Last Christmas" - Wham, isn't that an invitaion to smash it?!
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:43am
numbatwombat:
dan - if i were at a tiffany concert at the mall i would pick boston over blues control. and i like blues control. in fact, i actually like ALL of these records except billy joel and i have no animosity towards him. god is love. love is all!
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:44am
Looms:
Sincere sympathy, dan.
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:44am
mazerfaze:
sun araw is cool, man | |
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:45am
numbatwombat:
boston is kinda blues decontrol. maximalist to minimalist and sad. the keyboard and guitar textures available to boston are richer and deeper and more loved than the tossed-off hipster nonsense of blues control
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:46am
Bill Mac:
Yo Dan! Too bad you can't purge some of the vinyl I choose to occasionally fall back on in the early hours. I had a few people gang up on me for playing "My Sharona" on Friday night. You should take the hammer to me! Two chords!!!! It's a no brainer! Take it out of it's misery now! You'll make Joe happy and give a certain DJ his cred back!
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:46am
numbatwombat:
tom scholz works for decades on individual albums. how many albums have blues control put out? maybe we should call them blues quality lack of control.
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:49am
numbatwombat:
ps: as much as i love that king crimson album, "man with an open heart" is a wretched song, deserving to be eaten by "owner of a lonely heart" in 80's prog darwinism.
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:52am
Rachel Malheure:
ThnX for the katharsis!
|
Sun. 2/21/10 8:54am

geoffrey barnard:
jaysus, the best show on the radio suddenly becomes the worst - don't do this again
|
Sun. 2/21/10 3:15pm
Dan B:
OK all, thanks for your comments. Sorry I couldn't keep up with them during the show, but I ended up being much busier than usual this time. It seems like there's definitely another show's worth of suggestions here. Maybe I'll schedule it annually for just after the WFMU record fair (beginning of November)... Also, @Tom L, I don't buy that the Townsend record sold for that ridiculous amount of money, stop pulling my leg! You can hardly even hear it through all that static. Also, who are you numbatwombat, picking at my Blues Control pain? Was it *you* that submitted that one? Though I admit, Blues Lack of Quality Control is a brilliant joke. Finally, I hope you all enjoyed the Ric Astley as much as I did! Cheers!

doing some wonderful cleaning to your show. love the boston and admittedly, the ll cool j. amazing you guys are smashing at such an early hour!
|
Sun. 2/21/10 11:36pm
numbatwombat:
dan b - oh no sir! i was just giving you a hard time! i would never give blues control up for destruction! i am probably a bigger boston fan on average, though... i feel you were brave to do this and it certainly got me thinking about what i value and why. that is quite a good thing! nw

Stefan:
That was a totally enjoyable show. So much fun. Thanks for smashing those cassingles. I actually did like the LL Cool J, but I figured I needed to submit it for the higher purpose of eliminating all evidence of the cassingle format from the planet. The benefit for the many outweighs the benefit for the one.
|
Fri. 2/26/10 9:01pm
Stefan:
I admit though, hearing you smash some of your favorite records was like hearing about Nazi collaborators, who did what they thought they had to do.
