Flash Strap's avatar View Flash Strap's profile Favoriting

This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Circa 1981(16yrs old) found mint copies of used CAN albums in Burlington, VT Indy store.
Soundtracks, Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi, Future Days, Unlimited Edition ($5 single albums to $8 double albums)!. I had yet to really hear them, but knew a good find when I saw them in new arrival used bins. Had recently read articles on how Pete Shelley & John Lydon & Mark E. Smith had been influenced by them. So I was very curious. My life changed that evening, as I played Bamyasi first. My mind-body-spirit soaring, Never looked back. Utter education in jamming improvisation and studio as an instrument vibes. Much more tailored to my liking as β€˜compared’ to Gratefulness Dead. Those were some Happy Summer Daze.

1987 heavy diet of The Fall, read NME article on him stating that his inspiration for developing an incredible rhythm section Liebezeit/Czukay was his major influence. He admited that I AM DAMO SUZIKI was pure mastubation on his part. I had to find out who these cats were......WOW!

Can I be frank? (SWIDT?) I have never enjoyed Can. My ears don't hear them.

Erik-O-Vert:

I enjoy the Cul de Sac & Damo 2xCD collaboration. (2004?). & the Dunkelziffer I’ve heard is quite fun and worthy as well. I never remember the correct title for that early(1968?) soundtrack thing(β€œKamalak&Agobo”?) that is tangentially related. Would one please assist with that title and or Discogs/link. ThanksπŸ™

When I saw Dam w/ Cul De Sac, they played for like two hours and then Damo went and hugged every single person left in the bar. I'm not a hugger but you better believe I hugged a dripping-with-sweat Damo Suzuki.

I was thrilled when i finally found & heard this CD of "The Peel Sessions"(1973-1975 era?).
I vaguely recall when "Rite Time" (1989)came out, somebody did an interview with M.Mooney back then. - either at WFMU or WKCR Columbia U. (perhaps with Tony Coulter? or David Garland?).Imight even have an old cassette of it somewhere (a challenge to locate, no doubt?).
