That raid on the Reichsbürger was bizarre. I do wonder how delusional 50 people had to be to think that they could take over the government, but they could have nonetheless caused a lot of damage and killed and injured a lot of people . Imagine if the US had done that early enough with the Proud Boys, Oathtakers etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20am

Bizarre indeed, Don. But these are bizarre times.

Sending get well wishes to Shane MacGowan. I only saw The Pogues once, but I remember going to my fave pub in college and being told they were out of Guinness because The Pogues had shown up unannounced the day before. Turned out OK, the owner schooled me about whiskey that day to make up for it

And Fred, fortunate enough to see the Pogues a few times. Their performance usually depended on how Shane was "feeling," but I never had a bad time at one of their shows.

Morocco were fantastic yesterday. I'm not sure that wanker from Sky sports gave them their due.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10am
Destroit:

Morocco has been airtight from the jump. Add in a hot Keeper, proving tough to beat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12am
Brian D:

The commentators here keep talking about Bono (the Morocco keeper) as an "emerging star." He's been outstanding in La Liga for some time.
Avatar 4:12am

@brian, i learned about hamish kilgour's disappearance on your show last week, really thought he would show up fine, so sad that wasn't the case
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14am

My first look at Bono. I don’t watch la liga.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15am

You're missing something, Destroit. And yes, Tom Tom. Very sad.

Barrie_:

If it's any consolation, I also had a terrible plumbing mishap this week and also made it worse panicking trying to make it better. When the system itself fails, try not to blame yourself for what happens after and be glad that no one got hurt. In my case it was the fire department and then the insurance adjuster who consoled me on that fact. I had water spraying at me at full pressure from an exploded mains valve that probably would not have exploded had it actually been inspected by the landlord's technicians, who had been in every day the week before doing repairs yet inspected nothing. I'm lucky I did not get the water jet in my face as I could have lost an eye (or two). Looks like they've got more repairs to do now, and not just in my apartment this time! 🤭
Avatar 4:42am
Don in Tampere:

Barrie, what a nice story to hear at the beginning of the week that the plumber is supposed to come and finish installing the new water lines in the cabin :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42am
Brian D:

It's not any consolation, Barrie. Sorry for your troubles, but glad you're safe.
Avatar 4:47am
tom tom the pipers son:

brian, did your plumbing mishap have anything to do with, in the words of nancy pelosi, poo poo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48am
Barrie_:

I'm sure in your case Don't you'll have a good Finnish union man and a certificate! My landlord takes shortcuts and does things the "easy" way.

Brian: water is a crazy force and there is a whole lot of power in those skinny pipes! I'm glad you are OK! I was really shook up by my accident, it was pretty traumatising, not just the pain and stress but also the fear of repercussions.
But when the help came - as it nearly always does - I tried to focus on the helpers and not my own misfortune and errors, which is of course tough to look past. A net positive if you will, despite the suffering...

Barrie, you're probably right; Finns are quite careful and picky about plumbing and electrical installations. So hopefully there will be no problems.

They didn't play well, Fred. Perhaps that's it? Also, I know a lot of people are boycotting the tournament.

Michael of Cologne:

I've never understood why a football field is called a 'pitch' today. For me a pitch is for cricket or baseball. Slowly language loses its grip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35am
Brian D:

And why is Derby County's stadium called the Baseball Ground?
Avatar 5:48am
Michael of Cologne:

And how do you hit a ball out of the ball park if it is in truth a ground?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50am
Brian D:

Or hit a home run when you're not at home?
Avatar 5:53am
Michael of Cologne:

And the ball is grounded in the ground?

We're leaving out why we Yanks insist on calling our sport with helmets "football," Michael.
