I know this story is late but I only JUST arrived in The Field with Dusty. (When Tom T. sang “dusty road” I said to her, “They said your name! [brief pause] They said it again!”) Anyway, I remember taking my UK counterpart to see Art Brut at Irving Plaza back in the 2000s. Neither of us were huge fans but we liked them well enough, and it was the only decent gig in town that night. Anyway, we walked into the big room and Eddy’s flabber was gasted. “This is like four times as many people as they get in London,” he said. “And almost none of them are women.” #GainedInTranslation

I was lucky to start listening to WCBS-FM when they started their oldies format in 1974. They gave me quite an education in early rock and pop. The Everly Brothers were a real link between country music history with their childhood radio shows and the dawn of rock.

@Krys O. That familial blend you speak of, not to get too messy or biological, has quite a bit to do with the shape of the mouth, throat, larynx and other associated parts involved in vocal production. These structures tend to be quite similar in siblings born to the same set of parents.
