A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

I still have a young person here who needs Gardner. His biography is instructive - flopped out of divinity school due to a crisis of faith. Once a Christian stops believing in Hell, they don't have long left in the church...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04am Trouble:

it's starting to get weird, this staying in and bearing constant witness to the chief cheeto crazy. but then the catholic upbringing part of me reminds that i am soooo lucky and privileged to be inside and healthy. o the struggle between anger and relief
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good morning, Trouble and the modern bizzaro world. More about today's featured artist: www.theartstory.org...
Avatar 9:05am Magda:

@trouble I struggle with those feelings too. And I need to remind myself that in order for me to help others we must all take care of ourselves, to then be the altas to help hold the world up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06am p20:

@Trouble: The pain and suffering of privileged people is a complex thing. I struggle with this too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06am p20:

I have to be careful how I express it, and to constantly remember that many others have it worse. But my pain is still real, it still hurts.
  9:07am P-90:

Hi DJ Trouble. Sharing your Cheeto anger. In a big way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am Webhamster Henry:

Nice Art today in the Modern Locked-in World!
Avatar 9:07am John from NP:

@p20 I hear you, Nan and her $24k freezer full of ice cream, she has my sympathy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am Deborah:

@ Trouble: I miss my freedom. Call it first world, elitist, dilettante but I miss museums, the college library, cafe, conversations with others. And, I cannot teach qigong! Selfish, sure. As for the Cheeto In Chief, the sooner he leaves, the better chance for this country!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am melinda:

Morning everyone
Avatar 9:10am Creature Boy:

It was about the nico song being familiar and comforting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am p20:

@John from NP: I was speaking for myself, not anyone else. I'm calling myself "privileged" because I know I have it better than a lot of people - it's a relative thing. But I don't have a $24K freezer. I live in a shabby apartment with a shitty refrigerator that make a lot more noise than cold. but i'm not here to argue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am David (in London):

Hey Melinda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am DJ Guin:

@Deborah--I only wish it were that easy to de-elect the Trump-a-loompa..the 'Covidiots' protesting against the 'tyranny' will stuff the ballot boxes and usher in a New Age of Stupidity--watch Mike Judge's 'Idiocracy' for the blueprint.
Avatar 9:11am Magda:

There is this odd quiet serenity though to the world stoping that is making me grateful for the things I have, focused on the repairs and projects that I want to plan, and glad most of the wants like new fashionable clothes/make up/hair and nails are put aside as less important.
Avatar 9:11am TDK60:

I'm just giddy that all of a sudden lots more folks are questioning the meaning of normal; it takes some of the prior work I'd been doing (most of my career) off my shoulders! So, I can relax more, back here at the cassette castle.

I wish it would rain here in LA we're about to get a heatwave . i hate the heat . most ppl dig it. It's deadly just like the cold or the virus or the gun. Btw I stupidly turned on Stern earlier and he was going into this pro gun thing and i turned him off. Embarrassing that I ever listened to him . He has such horrible taste for one thing.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am Handy Haversack:

The summer I lived in Providence I worked in a cafe. An older local came in and asked me to make him a cabinet, and I just gawped at him. It took a little doing before we got around the language barrier.

  9:48am Woo:

I lived in Providence first half of my life. I left 30 years ago. It was pretty downtrodden thru the 80s but it was great place to be. Rent was cheap and the music was good. All the bands played there on their way between NY and Boston and back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48am p20:

Trouble: Let's hear some Lightning Bolt, hahaha!

I spent my HS years off Hope. “Rich folks live on Power, but most of us live off Hope”... PVD is a unique city.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am Handy Haversack:

Nice, @Trouble! I really loved that neighborhood! We were in the big blue captain's house at 4 Amy St., and our friends lived right across the street on Ives.

A string of perfect Saturdays: Breakfast at Louie's, then more coffee at Myopic Books, then reading and beer on the second-floor porch of 252 Ives, Spanish flag flying, and my friend playing the Godfather theme on his accordion when our landlord and his handy Manny made their inspection of the properties ...

We still call it the Summer of Love, and it was almost 25 years ago!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Handy Haversack:

I guess one never knows, @p20 (though I saw you mention the Chicago one at some point and wondered about this very issue!).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Irene Trudel:

Every summer for a while Peter and I + a bunch of friends haver been renting a house in the Newport/Naragansett area for a few years so we have a place to stay for the Jazz & Folk festivals. We paid for a house in Jamestown this time and I'm hoping everything won't be canceled by then.
  9:53am carl:

@carl, we have tickets for the Newport Jazz Fest but haven't heard any announcement yet. Even if it gets canceled, I'm hoping we can use the house. I love the beaches in that area. But those may br closed as well. The whole world seems to be on hold for the forseeable future.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am Handy Haversack:

@Micheal: So cool! I am glad it endures!

Is Fellini still there, too? Babe's on the Sunny Side?

@Trouble they are awesome! A few years back i misread an add and thought they were coming to PA, i got so excited, called a few friends to tell them we were going, until i realized i read it wrong lol.

Im def going to do a dive into the band you just played. Alot of the instrumentation sounded very similar too, i was trying to see if some member's were maybe the same orchestre to orchestra, but couldnt find anything, probably not the same guys thou. Anyway thanks for the new band to listen to!
