A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Love the painting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am Trouble:

the continuing ancient biblical plague brought a giant water main break to Jersey city tuesday afternoon. we put up with those occurrences a few times a year due to old pipes and construction mishaps. This one was a wopper, some people are still without water. I have water but we are boiling it before we wash dishes and brush our teeth, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am David (in London):

Trouble, I trust that as with the boiler yesterday, Ken is out there down the hole getting it fixed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am Trouble:

@david ken is a bit overworked these days.... i imagine they have water at the station, they are further from the water main break than where i live.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am Doug in JC:

It was weird seeing pictures of the Tonnele Circle being underwater on a sunny day

hey Handy! been feeling similar about the work days, the motivation is starting to be seriously diminished lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am ParUbi:

This is a show that my whole family loves. That is frankly pretty rare for FMU, even I happen to love most everything here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am David (in London):

Handy, I had trouble getting up this morning too. Must have been all that ferocious activity and wit on Irwin's board yesterday. It tired everyone one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am Doug in JC:

Hey Crud. Hey Handy... wish I slept in today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am Trouble:

thanks @ glorious estephonic, good to share wfmu with others!

Now _there's_ somebody doing the Lord's work. It's always humbling to hear from the people fighting entropy on the front lines, Glorious E.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am Handy Haversack:

That must be it, David. And then after you went to bed we stayed up and EFDed way too hard! But good-ness, was he bringing it last night.

Doug, don't drink the water!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am David (in London):

Honest Jon's Records is down in Ladbroke Grove. It's one of my favourite shops in the world. Sigh. How I long to be able to go down there and spend way too much money.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Doug in JC:

Trust me, this water doesn’t even look ok
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Crudbringer:

I can see you all have played scoopy-tiney before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Doug in JC:

It’s like Fratelli’s tap water in Goonies
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am WoodsOfNH:

Hey DiL! Got your links this AM. I’ll give them a listen this afternoon!

Hey Handy, crudbinger
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Handy Haversack:

Spin Age Blasters is a sanity-maintaining experience for me. Needed like water. Fortunately, Kate totally digs it, too.

Hey, Phillippe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Hughie Considine:

This song is so swoon-worthy...perfect for a rainy Thursday...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am Irene Trudel:

Trouble, your song choices this morning are the perfect complement to this morning’s steady, heavy rain. Loving it!
Avatar 9:56am βrian:

It's a bright, blue day on the isthmus. I expect this weather is heading to the east coast soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Hughie Considine:

Struggling mightily not to write "isthmus be my lucky day" and failing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Trouble:

thanks, Irene! feels like it's always raining on a thursday...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Irene Trudel:

Just over a year ago I saw Meg Baird and Mary Lattimore give a beautiful concert of this music up in Kingston, NY. Brings back some nice memories.
  9:59am S:

@Irene Trudel - I saw them in Boston on the same tour and was just recalling it wistfully
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am Handy Haversack:

Trouble, I do seem to recall a lot of rainy Thursdays lately.
Avatar 10:00am Knucky:

Stopped me in my tracks to listen. Beautiful...thank you.
  10:01am Philippe bastille:

Rain hasn’t hit here yet but itsa comin’. Flag and flagpole across the cove are rocking in the wind and the wrong side of the pier is wet

  10:03am Laurie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am JtotheK:

nice bobby bland track. hi Trouble, enjoying the show. hi everyone.

But oh, for a nice, quiet automatic dishwasher!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am adamp:

I love that Curnow bird sounds record
  10:07am testingwithfire:

Hey all, after we are past the worst of this, who do you want to see perform live, top of the list?

For me I think it's Wyse Blood or Sharon van Etten. I'll probably make a special trip to JC for a Monty Hall show too.
  10:08am Laurie:

There's an alarm app called dawn chorus that wakes you up with birdsong btw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am Handy Haversack:

I want to see Kate's band. And drink cheap beer. And carry amps and cymbals.
Avatar 10:09am βrian:

Avatar 10:10am mjl5:

good morning @trouble and moderns.
Avatar 10:10am Shagalov:

YAY , GOOOOD MORNING!
  10:11am Laurie:

I went to see weyes blood open for kacey musgraves and I'm pretty sure we were the only ones there for Natalie. We love kacey too, but we stan weyes blood.

Some Karen tried to get us kicked out by security because we were standing for weyes blood (not all of the songs, just our faves). She didn't complain when literally everyone stood up for kacey tho !!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am Trouble:

@laurie: due to water main break peeps need to set dishwasher setting to sanitize: hotter and longer to kill bacteria that might be in water post water main break. no drinking or brushing teeth from tap
  10:13am Laurie:

Sharon Van Etten did a little concert on Levi's Instagram. I love her and she answered my question but Levi's pls stop polluting the world and then maybe our respiratory systems could be better and well
  10:14am Laurie:

You can finish the rest of my thought, I'm sure
  10:15am Laurie:

Thanks @trouble, I'm in Miami so I only have to worry about boiling water to kill brain eating amoebas in case I use a neti pot, something I do not own
  10:16am hey buddy:

So mellow thanks trouble I ate too many oatmeal raisin cookies now I’m in morning nap zone :)
  10:20am Andy Schwartz:

Enjoying this morning's show immensely. Many artists & tracks new to me, cf. "Together" by Hollie Cook, "Fair Annie" by Meg Baird & Mary Lattimore, et al.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am adamp:

Ooh~ I am FEELING this Universal Energy, (home) OFfICE DANCE PARRRRTY!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am David (in London):

Handy, it took me a while to discover that the reference to whippets on Monster Magnet's 'Spine of God' album wasn't in fact about dog racing in the north of England. "Ah, I see!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Handy Haversack:

David, ha! Didn't realize they were not a universal solvent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am common:

that''s a great record, David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am David (in London):

Common - Oh surely yes. I had two friends who never agreed on ANYTHING musically, but when Spine of God came out, they both loved it. I realised then that it was a rare treasure indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good morning, all. A bridge over troubled waters, as it were.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am common:

Fantastic day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am Andrew Waterloo:

@Woods... just remember the rule... no animation... no more than 3 points per page..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am WoodsOfNH:

@Andrew....WHAT? THERE ARE RULES??!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am Andrew Waterloo:

@Woods... well.. my rules...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am Trouble:

@ handy;Make the Road NY and NJ are doing amazing work standing up for people who work so hard and are continually marginalized by the powers that be
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Handy Haversack:

@Trouble: Agreed. We are big fans around here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Andrew Waterloo:

@Woods.. Lets's just say I've sat through many a useless presentation. I find when I do a presentation, I prefer people listen to me talk than be distracted trying to read what is behind me. If I show a large amount of text it's to show them what a reference looks like.
