Seeing him with Scream back in the day...he was already into a lot of DC metal and hardcore. He mentions a lot of bands in interviews and where's their merch at awards shows and whatnot. He's really given exposure to a group of people that would probably not have known some bands otherwise. He does do well in that regard. I personally like the guy, but I am sick of seeing his mug, almost everywhere!!!

A couple of buddies and myself dug on Bleach as a pretty cool sub Pop offering, and then all of the sudden I was surprised to see them everywhere. with a drummer I new from the DC scene now in the band. I bought Nevermind and didn't listen to it for over 20 years. I didn't have to...it was everywhere! I spun it for the first (and last) time about 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. It is sometimes hard, even when one deliberately tries, to separate the work from the hype. Reason I didn't spin that particular record again is I have a near mint copy of the first pressing. Booyah! Anyhow...just sharing.
	♥ 1:14am coelacanth∅: i was already "grown up" (haha, as if!) by the dawn of the 90s and i never listened to commercial radio except for a few years ~1996-1998 when the car i had couldn't pull in wfmu. so my exposure to nirvana was not very different than, say, my exposure to 75 dollar bill now, or Myrker, or whatever. i'm thankful for that.

I asked him what his favorite Dismember album was (as this is of great interest to me!) and he went on quite the diatribe! I immediately noticed his Swedish accent and was thinking, "Yeah, I'm loving this opinion from a fella from Sweden." Hours later when Monolord went on it turned out it was the singer I was talking to. I was into them at the time, but I didn't know what the hell they looked like. Anyhow, after we got really into the dismember thing, he went on to tell me that Fred Etsby of Dismember lives in Brooklyn now. I have not been able to confirm that yet, but I want to see what he's doing! If he's recording people I'm just going to write a bunch of tunes with my BOSS-HM2 pedal pinned and pay him to record me...just for the experience!

Purchased directly from Simple Machines Records and sold as part of a lot of similar cassettes I sold off in the early 2000s to pay my bills. I think all 6-8 cassettes went for $80 or so? But that one cassette sold for maybe $400 to $500 later on. So yeah, profit regret but still.

Seeing him with Scream back in the day...he was already into a lot of DC metal and hardcore. He mentions a lot of bands in interviews and where's their merch at awards shows and whatnot. He's really given exposure to a group of people that would probably not have known some bands otherwise. He does do well in that regard. I personally like the guy, but I am sick of seeing his mug, almost everywhere!!!

A couple of buddies and myself dug on Bleach as a pretty cool sub Pop offering, and then all of the sudden I was surprised to see them everywhere. with a drummer I new from the DC scene now in the band. I bought Nevermind and didn't listen to it for over 20 years. I didn't have to...it was everywhere! I spun it for the first (and last) time about 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. It is sometimes hard, even when one deliberately tries, to separate the work from the hype. Reason I didn't spin that particular record again is I have a near mint copy of the first pressing. Booyah! Anyhow...just sharing.
	♥ 1:14am coelacanth∅: i was already "grown up" (haha, as if!) by the dawn of the 90s and i never listened to commercial radio except for a few years ~1996-1998 when the car i had couldn't pull in wfmu. so my exposure to nirvana was not very different than, say, my exposure to 75 dollar bill now, or Myrker, or whatever. i'm thankful for that.

Hours later when Monolord went on it turned out it was the singer I was talking to. I was into them at the time, but I didn't know what the hell they looked like. Anyhow, after we got really into the dismember thing, he went on to tell me that Fred Etsby of Dismember lives in Brooklyn now. I have not been able to confirm that yet, but I want to see what he's doing! If he's recording people I'm just going to write a bunch of tunes with my BOSS-HM2 pedal pinned and pay him to record me...just for the experience!

Purchased directly from Simple Machines Records and sold as part of a lot of similar cassettes I sold off in the early 2000s to pay my bills. I think all 6-8 cassettes went for $80 or so? But that one cassette sold for maybe $400 to $500 later on. So yeah, profit regret but still.
