If only someone had the power bestow the Medal of Freedom on the Joker.

I've met Joaquin Phoenix in person at a party, but never saw Joker....

I want to get the soundtrack as anything I have heard from Hildur Guðnadóttir is never bad, as for the movie itself, hmmm, Happy Days reruns sounds more like the stuff for me.

dale:

ceasar romero is the only joker for me.

I just finished reading an interview with Hildur Guðnadóttir in the Wire. I was curious to hear the Joker soundtrack, but I figured I'd never get a chance (I'm not interested in the film). Then I flip on WFMU and it's playing => Thanks Devon!

Wasn't there another composer on Sicario as well, an Icelandic guy? Johanssen, I think. Died not long ago, unfortunately.

also uninterested in the film, but liked the music

@mariano: the CD that came with the August 2019 issue is fantastic

i saw the one where mark hammell went 'poof' - is that the last one?

Now that Disney has film rights to Hamilton, it shouldn't be too long until there's one of these shows with a cue about a duel or something.

I am a member of an elitist club; people born in the 70s who HATE Star Wars.

I liked the first one OK when I saw it as a kid, but I've never even seen any of the others. I'm just sick of never getting through a day without hearing about it.

I saw the special edition of the first one as a 21 year old; the two guys in my company had probably seen the original before they could even read the finnish subtitles, they:over the moon, me:meh.

mariano:

I was 8 when the first one came out, so I was in the target audience. I was absolutely besotted with Star Wars for a few years, had most of the toys, but had pretty much forgotten about it a year or so after Empire Strikes Back.

like IG-88 in Mandalorian! hubba-hubba!
Avatar 7:49pm
YETI BOB:

I grew up reading sci-fi and even at age 12 I kind of felt like Star Wars was kinda cheezy. I remember writing something for the school paper where I said "Close Encounters" was a better sci-fi movie. It was controversial!

are we voting? if we are, I think the Joker soundtrack is the winner so far

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm

I really liked Rogue One, but I'm not so up on the mythos and nuances that I could argue with a diehard fan over whether or not it was good in terms of the whole canon. I just thought it was a well-done movie.

I think I discovered Alien before the Empire came out, that may have thrown some of the interest off too.
Avatar 7:53pm

I thought the way 1917 was shot was immersive enough, but I found the cuts pretty apparent.
Avatar 7:53pm

Kind of jarring, like, why is the camera doing that?
Avatar 7:54pm
YETI BOB:

@ultradamno: yeah, Alien - there's some REAL sci-fi!
