Avatar 10:04pm Jeff Conklin:

Morning , all.

Awesomeness is so subjective...
  10:05pm Agent Peter:

Is it morning? Such a fine line between the real and the vividly imagined...
Avatar 10:06pm Jeff Conklin:

Just getting ready for when im back in the shit shift next week with the "morning"
  10:06pm Agent Peter:

Whatever time it is now, appreciate hearing what was a legendary show from that era.
  10:07pm The Butterman:

Beautiful choice, Jeff. We'll see summer come again. Hope Montana was magical.
Avatar 10:08pm Jeff Conklin:

It was, Butterman, thanks for asking. I'll rap a bit about it at the end of the hour (and probably for the next several weeks, ha)

  10:19pm Agent Peter:

everything fine on 91.9. Might want to check what's happening on 91.1
Avatar 10:20pm Jeff Conklin:

@Peter: Just had my housemate say something...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm medson:

Yeah 91.1 went out
Avatar 10:21pm Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, I've emailed the authorities.
  10:22pm Marc15:

No 91.1 for me
  10:24pm herb.nyc:

Same 91.1 issue lower Manhattan, glug.
  10:24pm Carmichael:

Heya Jeff. I seem to have heard of these fellows before.
Avatar 10:24pm Snortley:

91.1 is dead. Dropped out for a couple of seconds during Amanda's show; now it's completely gone.
  10:27pm Agent Peter:

glad I switched to the stream in time for that transition!
  10:28pm Lucky:

Sorry to hear you're back on the midnight to three, but I know I'm gonna appreciate the extra hour. So thanks for the hassle on your end in advance...
  10:29pm Carmichael:

Is this Wet Tuna hot or cold?
Avatar 10:30pm franny:

What is 91.1?
  10:33pm Lucky:

@ franny: 91.1(fm) is the frequency for the WFMU braodcast in NJ/NYC area.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Wendy del Formaggio:

This Wet Tuna is awesome, and not only because I am fond of the road.
  10:34pm Carmichael:

91.1, like Timothy Leary, is dead.
  10:34pm Lucky:

Avatar 10:39pm franny:

Yeah - thanks - I remember when I lived in Brooklyn is was at the far end of the dial.
Avatar 10:41pm Jeff Conklin:

Their song rotation is small but every performance is really different. Best band out there right now...
  10:42pm Lucky:

Wow, I checked back to the list to see what the new song was, but it's not. I'm impressed.
  10:43pm Lucky:

They're moving through a lot of ground here...
  10:44pm Dean:

"Best band out there right now... "

I'm speechless (mostly).
  10:44pm ike:

Dig. Oh hey, you're still on at 91.9 from Manhattan. Groovy.
  10:45pm Agent Peter:

I think it's all in New Hampshire actually
Avatar 10:46pm Jeff Conklin:

@Dean: Feel free to (attempt) to prove me wrong and give me a good laugh...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Wet Tuna, on the Feeding Tube label if you want your very own copy.
  10:50pm Dean:

Superlatives scare me.
  10:52pm tim from Champaign:

I caught Wet Tuna at Reverberation Vinyl in Bloomington IL in May. It was awesome. Inner spaceway traveling. It was also the most heavily taped show I’d ever seen.
Avatar 10:58pm franny:

I like Flower Rooms.Thanks.
Avatar 11:03pm franny:

I listen on the internerd.
  11:04pm Dean:

I shit you not: one of the teachers at my son's middle school attended 800 Dead shows.

Which is weird, because I don't recall every meeting her, and I saw every Dead show ever.
  11:04pm Carmichael:

Comparatives work just fine for me.
  11:05pm Dean:

Comparatives are the best!

  11:09pm Alix!:

Less talk more rock
  11:11pm MONEYBAG$:

I don’t mind talk when it involves Collective Soul
Avatar 11:11pm Jeff Conklin:

Rock is dead.
  11:12pm Dean:

Just so ya know, "travel" is related to "travail." Going places is work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm nixxon:

I'm diggin' these tunes. Thanks!!
  11:12pm Dean:

Fortunately, the Dead is rock.
  11:13pm Agent Peter:

Rock on Beavis
  11:13pm tree:

well people say that god is a rock and that god is dead so it would follow that rock is dead too
  11:14pm Carmichael:

Let’s talk more rock.
  11:16pm Lucky:

Hey, man, am I to understand you hitch hiked? Is that wise in this day and age?
  11:16pm Carmichael:

I like music with instruments and people singing.
  11:16pm Santos L Halper:

We appreciate you whenever you're on Jeff. Thanks for soon staying up late, even if I can't. That Two Track track was nice
Avatar 11:19pm Jeff Conklin:

I know you guys appreciate it, that's why I do this. Thanks, Santos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm nixxon:

Yes, we appreciate whatever you are on, Jeff
  11:20pm Lucky:

Not being snarky. Also, I agree - rock IS dead.
  11:23pm Dean:

Agreed. I'll listen as often as I can. I'm of two minds about the WFMU schedule. On the one hand, I understand that Ken has a miserable job when it comes to slotting shows. On the other hand, I want the regulars whom I enjoy not to move one little bit, because I plan my days around them.

Rock is NOT dead. I caught The Vibrators last night at a bar in town. They were stunningly good. They, uh, rocked! My ears ring joyously!
  11:25pm Carmichael:

Don’t accept what the radio gives you. FIND music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm Smokestack:

Really nice set here
Avatar 11:27pm franny:

@Dean 'Baby Baby Baby....." - didn't know they're still doin' it!
  11:30pm Dean:

@franny, They are! And they're doing it well, but ironically, "Baby, Baby" last night kinda flagged. But otherwise they were in good form. They did a Flamin' Groovies tune, several vintage Vibrators tunes, and a number of new ones. I've enjoyed them since '77, when I bought the first album, UK issue, at a record store in Long Beach, CA. Never saw them live, though, until last night!
  11:35pm el Garee le Bee~:

JC- It'll be ok in the next slot. Did the same thing but had the most fun when we conducted "radio experiments"...crazy stuff. Some of it even worked! Plus you're in a gianormous radioscape there with the late nite city backbone. Great peeps call you from everywhere working late shifts, going home and being wild humans. There's a big radio throb pulsing in the middle of the nite. Check you later. Best.
Avatar 11:38pm Jeff Conklin:

@el garee:

I appreciate the positivity but none of that means anything to me ha
  11:46pm zenkoan:

Jeff--the later shift has gotta be hard physically. But at that time of night, lots of people probably listen with headphones, few or no distractions...really Listen more deeply to what you present. So maybe that means something.
Glad you had a great trip and welcome back.
Avatar 11:47pm Jeff Conklin:

@zenkoan: Good point but the truth is most people listen to my show on the archives (a LOT of people). It really doesnt matter when I'm actually on to anybody but me I think ha
Avatar 11:53pm Wirework Headman:

Hey man, really bummed to hear the news, but happy for you. I was born and raised in MT, have lived in OR, NM, ND and now MN so I totally get it. I just discovered this show a few weeks ago, and just have to say it is totally awesome. I drive truck and I can't tell you how much I look forward to listening to this show...please don't abandon radio wherever your travels may take you!
  11:56pm JakeGould:

Rock is definitely dead. And I will meet as this show being on earlier.
  11:56pm JakeGould:

I will MISS!
Avatar 11:58pm Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, all. Hope to see you all next week on here....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm Smokestack:

Hey, 9pm here on the west coast is still a great time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Jeff. Take care.
