A few weeks ago I was suddenly seized by a desire to read the Wikipedia article on Tamerlane, a person known for leaving pyramids or towers of skulls where ever he went.
In June of 1941 the Russian anthropologist Gerasimov exhumed his bones and skull to do a reconstruction of his face and create a portrait bust of him. It is said by some that this released a curse on the world that was responsible for the kerfuffle between the Soviet Union and Germany in the early 1940's.
