i like your new profile pic, @coel; sorry about the bad luck with your tape, though

listener james from westwood:

Hey hey, Tony and all! In since the git-go even if my damn browser needed restarting owing to a zillion tabs being open. (Is it my fault I'm easily distracted?!)

Rich in Washington:

Oh my (there is no) god! A music box playing the Internationale!
I have to get that for my grandson, pronto!
Avatar 12:12pm
Tony Coulter:

James! Rich! I am rich in James ... and Riches...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
fred:

@Rich: Ken once had a three-hour show playing versions of it. It's better that a music box
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
coelacanth∅:

steveo thanks! it sure sounded good that last time.
...played all the way through then i let it start again, which is when the tape broke; but i didn't know it. it played for almost 2 full songs while being consumed by the player.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
Rich in Washington:

@fred: I remember that! It was awesome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm

Ken's show: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm

(looks like it was only less than 2 hours, not 3)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm
Rich in Washington:

Listener james, you're going to eventually get around to reading all those saved tabs, right? ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
Rich in Washington:

someone needs to invent something that just sends out reminders/links of all the tabs we leave open, intending to read articles, etc.
Like a 'read all tabs later' button.
Avatar 12:28pm
Tony Coulter:

I'm a real minimalist -- I only have around 10 unread tabs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
Webhamster Henry:

This is really excellent!
Avatar 12:30pm

Henry! It is indeed most excellent.

Listener Bob in PGH:

Hello! I've been away for a while. Job changed buildings and we went from individual offices to cubes so listening now is a fraught affair. Apparently I'm expected to be involved in (nearly) every inane conversation now! I listen when I can (which isn't often enough). Help!
Avatar 12:35pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya, Bob! Maybe they'll let you listen if you tell them you're listening to motivational self-hypnosis tapes in order to improve your job performance?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
Listener Bob in PGH:

Nah, that would cut into my time getting blow-by-blow accounts of my co-workers' children's extra-curricular activities!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
fred:

@Listener Bob: That worked for me, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it: a steady diet of Kenny G archives. I didn't do it on purpose, but when people asked to hear what I was listening to, for some reason they never asked again
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:44pm
Yvang:

I can testify that Tony's show definitely improves my job performance.

@ngh let's get your elbow down to lacrosse ball size!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm

@ngh: hoping it goes well, you seem to be in good shape so it should be a breeze

This X-Ray Pop song is really ambitious.
Avatar 1:11pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Yvang: True! They don't usually attempt long-form.
Avatar 1:15pm
northguineahills:

I think I also got a weird psychosomatic psoriasis. Stress of not finding the missus a good job here is getting to me, and, I never sleep well anyways.. Could care less about my osseous contusion, it will heal (I hurt myself all the time, and I've always healed).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm

Thanks Tony!

Hey, crateslinger!

For me, the show starts at 9:00 AM out here on the West Coast -- I'm barely awake as it is!

Avatar 1:43pm

this has to be the most popular chord progression in the history of punk rock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm
Ike:

Maybe it was an old Douglas Wolk premium?
Avatar 1:45pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Ike: That sounds likely ... or maybe Choking on Cufflinks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm
steveo:

ike. yeah google sez Douglas Wolk's WFMU premium 2001
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm

Hiya, JtotheK! Glad to hear it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm

DDAA! I wish I could pretend to have heard them back then. I didn't, only heard about them from WFMU
Avatar 2:00pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Fred: They're still very much around -- back now, back in the today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm

@ike i'm glad you guessed it before i spoiled the fun
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm
steveo:

i'll send you some fly repellent for that time fly problem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
fred:

I know, but it's a lot about having been there back in the days (or pretending so). I missed that, I'm OK with it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
fred:

Meaning I'm totally hoping to see them at last, but cheaper. WFMU comes first and that ain't cheap
Avatar 2:15pm
Tony Coulter:

I've never seen them live, unfortunately. They've never been to the States, as far as I know, and my visits to the Old World are few and far between.
Avatar 2:18pm
Tony Coulter:

I did once see Un Drame Musical Instantané live in Paris, though.

The four Candys need to hook up with the 16 Gerrys (of Gerry and The Holograms)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm

Not taken that way!
