Sneaky-sneaking in early to say hey and welcome back!
Avatar 11:54am
Tony Coulter:

Hey, hey, James!!
Avatar 11:58am
Tony Coulter:

I don't really see how anyone could possibly recognize today's LP-under-the-cassettes, but just in case: Any guesses?

One hint: despite looking like a deconstructed German flag, it's actually a U.K. new wave record from '82 (kind of an obscure one, though....)

Back to the days when hand-designed album art always involved Courier font.

By the by, my copy of this Cut-Up Swingers tape on now is missing the cover -- there is one: www.discogs.com...

this sounds like my alarm clock going off in the background. Am I dreaming?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
coelacanth∅:

of course, i've never known a single background album cover (on the days i've tuned in) but this one i own. ...doesn't matter, i can't place it anyway and it's in storage 75 miles away. maybe it'll come to me.

Hey, Rich! Time to wake up!!

any kind of terse talking or yelling in German solicits weird stares from coworkers, so it's headphones and door closed from here on out.

Well, no guesses yet re today's mystery LP, so I'll do the big reveal. It's Bron Area's "Different Phrases": www.discogs.com...

the lost art of the tv dial tape..

Mrowr!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
Rich in Washington:

I miss analog tv dials and the crazy staccato one could obtain by rapidly spinning the dial. You can't do anything like that with digital TV.

Ike! Ike!
Avatar 12:30pm

The track on now is the "original soundtrack of the forthcoming motion picture FATTY LEBT with Frieder Butzmann as Fatty!"
Avatar 12:31pm
Tony Coulter:

Wonder if it ever forthcame....
Avatar 12:32pm
Tony Coulter:

Oh, and, the track after this is a cover of an Einstürzende Neubauten tune ("Frisches Blut für Berlin).

Dug the Cut-Up Swingers....
Avatar 12:48pm
Tony Coulter:

Ahoy, NGH! Yeah, those Swingers are fun....
Avatar 12:58pm

Lieutenant Murnau, new to me!
Avatar 12:59pm
Tony Coulter:

They're great, and have a fair number of releases -- including some relatively easy to get CDs.
Avatar 1:05pm
Tony Coulter:

The male vocalist here is Mykel Board (Art is his band). Coincidentally, I've bought a few singles and LPs from him on discogs.
Avatar 1:05pm
northguineahills:

Fuck dance, let's art!

Fashionista:

The worst of 80's medley ever. very sarcastic nonetheless
Avatar 1:14pm
Tony Coulter:

Hola, Fashionista!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
Rich in Washington:

That Art set was great!
Board did a thing recently where if one sent him I think five bucks, he'd stuff a mailer with 7" singles randomly chosen from his personal collection and from his back catalog. I did it and got a bunch of great Art/Artless and offshoots, plus a few random oldies, actually pretty good stuff.
Avatar 1:19pm
Tony Coulter:

Yeah, I did the same with cassettes -- and got some good ones!
Avatar 1:21pm
Tony Coulter:

Never occurred to me before until just now, but Mykel Board and Little Fyodor have some similarities.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
Rich in Washington:

Have you ever seen them in the same place at the same time?
Avatar 1:22pm
Tony Coulter:

Nope!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
Rich in Washington:

Fyodor is great. I especially love his early cassettes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm

He's still at it! Living in Boulder CO, I believe.
Avatar 1:26pm
Tony Coulter:

Yeah, he's still very active. He's a super nice and enthusiastic guy too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm

this is fantastic!
Avatar 1:34pm

Giorbino's early vinyl releases are super-fab too.
Avatar 1:43pm

Well, my workstation seem to be glitchy, so, this is as good as any time as any to reboot and get lunch. Cheers!
Avatar 1:44pm

Killer cassettes today, and congrats on Tetris-ing them all into the show in full!
Avatar 2:57pm
Tony Coulter:

Thanks, James!
Avatar 2:59pm
Tony Coulter:

@ James: You're right, by the way: it was a challenge fitting them all in. Meant I had to dispense with announcing the titles on mic .. which, as an added bonus, spared you my mangling of German.
