Alessandra Novaga stops by to discuss "Fassbinder Wunderkammer," the Milan-based classical and experimental guitarist's third solo LP inspired by and dedicated to German auteur director Rainer Werner Fassbinder and his composer collaborator Peer Raben. Alessandra has worked with the likes of Lee Renaldo and Elliott Sharp and was the first guitarist to perform the entire cycle of John Zorn's "The Book of Heads" in Italy. A decade or two back one visitor to our local Downtown bar was a willowy still-youngish man who was rumored to have been a companion of Fassbinder's for some years. We all of course kept him in drinks and asked for stories. I recall that they all sounded plausible, but I don't remember any details.

Remember when one of the Manhattan movie theaters did a two-day weekend showing of Berlin Alexanderplatz, I think 8 hours each day? It was a really cool immersive way to experience the series.
