Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm chresti:

I much prefer this heatwave to the one that's outside
  7:44pm JakeGould:

And back again.
Avatar 7:47pm Jeff Moore:

It's important to be familiar with _The Sweeney_, because it's a major stylistic reference point for the _Life on Mars_ TV show (which absolutely everyone must watch, it's one of the best things ever).

Original Brit Life on Mars, or course, not the US travesty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm Linda Lee:

any show that references Bowie in the name has got to be worth looking at.
Avatar 7:49pm Jeff Moore:

...and of course The Sweeney features the younger pre-Morse John Thaw among others.
Avatar 7:51pm Jeff Moore:

@Linda Lee: the song is a leitmotif woven into the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm Linda Lee:

nice!
where is it online?
Avatar 7:52pm Jeff Moore:

I have absolutely no idea. I ended up buying physical media from amazon.co.uk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm ultradamno:

Prime Video
Avatar 7:56pm Jeff Moore:

(We started watching it when BBC America broadcast it a number of years ago, some episodes got lost for reasons, we picked up the PAL DVDs... and realized that the show as we'd seen it so far had been butchered in the process of editing for time. Later some nice Blu-rays came out.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm ultradamno:

youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm Linda Lee:

thanks friends!
Avatar 8:00pm Jeff Moore:

@ultradamno: Nice. That YouTube link with the first episode will give people the flavo[u]r of the show.

Note that the overarching Big Mystery is solved in followup series set in the '80s.
Avatar 8:02pm Jeff Moore:

...named of course after another Bowie song, Ashes to Ashes.
