Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from June 14, 2016 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Heron Oblivion  Live at Monty Hall 5/28   Favoriting     On their debut LP out this year on Sub Pop, this relatively new Bay Area combo have forged a unique alchemy between elements of dreamy psychedelic folk and meltdown electric guitar freakery. And with good reason: their lineup includes singer/drummer Meg Baird (of Espers/Watery Love), guitarist Charlie Saufly of Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound, and Noel Von Harmonson (on guitar) and Ethan Miller (on bass) of the late great Comets on Fire, a band that recorded two blowout sessions on Brian's program in the mid 2000's. Today's session is a recording of a May 26th bill Brian presented with Endless Boogie and Chris Forsyth's Solar Motel Band that took place at WFMU's Monty Hall. As a bonus, you can watch the whole set live from our stream at 5pm ET on www.wfmu.org! Thanks to the band, Sub Pop, Ruth Polduk, Ernie Indridat, Serge Z, Dave Satkowski, Todd Abramson, Endless Boogie and Chris Forsyth & Co.    2:02:35 (Pop-up)
Comets On Fire  Beneath the Ice Age   Favoriting Live here on the show in 2003    then bootlegged by Julian Cope on his "Fuck Off an Di" label. Comets did two amazing sessions here on the show worth digging outta the archive stream. Featuring Noel and Ethan from Heron Oblivion.    2:52:25 (Pop-up)

CRAP! i can't believe i have to miss heron oblivion. will it be archived? -the video? at least the audio?
  3:05pm
ChomskyHeronOblivionBot:

I suggested that these results would follow from the assumption that a case of semigrammaticalness of a different sort does not affect the structure of the traditional practice of Heron Oblivion. On the other hand, any associated supporting element is, apparently, determined by the extended c-command discussed in connection with Heron Obilivion. With this clarification, a descriptively adequate Heron Oblivion may remedy and, at the same time, eliminate a descriptive fact. We have already seen that relational information cannot be arbitrary in nondistinctness in the sense of distinctive Heron Oblivion. Conversely, a subset of English sentences interesting on quite independent grounds delimits problems of phonemic and morphological Heron Oblivion.

DEAR DJ: I love that last track, but was it really Tackle by Benzedrine? I went on their SoundCloud and Tackle seems to be a different song... I'm confused... I'd love to be able to hear what you played again.
