Horn rock! Or is it a synthesizer? Are the dBs living a lie?
Avatar 12:12pm
Cecile:

it's horns. It might even be the horns from the Rumour. They were in England when they recorded that.
  12:13pm
Dean:

So, Cecile, rumor has it it's guys from The Rumour?

I kinda lost track of Die Kreuzen after their debut LP but they sound great here!
There was a pretty amusing interview with them many, many years ago where they detailed getting courted by a major label and how and why they (the band) turned them down.
Avatar 12:26pm
Cecile:

The second album is great. I didn't feel the later ones, but maybe I should revisit tham.
Avatar 12:27pm

Diane, that second album helped inspire Voivod to broaden their sound, didn't it?

Dean:

Whaddya know? There is a band called Potty Mouth, as well there should be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm
coe:

It's a show about a fictional record executive who coincidently happens to be present for many real things that happened in the music world in the 70's. Example he was in Mercer Arts Center when it collapsed and was backstage in MSG when Peter Grant was giving the guy the run down about bootlegs as it appears in Song Remains the Same. They also like to alter history a bit as the NY Dolls in their version were playing the Mercer when it collapsed.
Avatar 1:20pm
Diane Kamikaze:

So @coe, what do you think of the show?
Avatar 1:22pm
V Priceless:

hey Diane! Nice job w/the Hoof & Mouth, btw...RAWK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
coe:

It is so bad it is almost impossible to look away :). Honestly had they kept it all fictional and didn't try to do the wink wink nudge references it would have been ok/passable. But with everything else it's just a total car wreck.
  1:25pm
Dean:

Initial reading of this band's name at a glance: Ruins of Breakfast.
Avatar 1:25pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

So it's kind of like that HBO show Rome, only about the LES?
  1:27pm
Polyus:

I made it through one episode of Vinyl. Felt like that was enough.
Avatar 1:28pm
Cheri Pi:

I didn't know about that thing either coe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
coe:

@Fox kind of. I've never seen Rome but I will not deny I am a fan of meta fiction so I'm ok with re writing "history" for the sake of entertainment. I think the issue is here is they are using things that there is real archival footage of and the fact that some of us were in some cases present for some of these things. So when you see them "rewriting" something like that it snaps you right out of your suspension of disbelief.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
coe:

@Cheri now we just have to find out how to see it. The last screening date site gives was back in Oct. So bummed they canceled their tour.
Avatar 1:32pm
V Priceless:

Re: Vinyl - the kid playing Alice Cooper did a decent job talking like him - they also 'recreate' the original band rehearsing, as they do with a comic book-like Spiders from Mars - which is certainly amusing, if nothing else.
