Cecile and I have a love transference announcement to make.
Avatar 12:14pm Listener dc 108581:

lay it on us, Pi.
Avatar 12:15pm Cheri Pi:

It might be better for DK to announce it
Avatar 12:17pm Cheri Pi:

BTW I'm on like 10 cold meds right now, I've got a pretty sweet buzz...

Avatar 12:28pm Cecile:

and hi, Pi!
  12:30pm P-90:

What's Hearty's position vis-à-vis Voivod?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm chris:

now i want to hear a metal version of 'Man of Constant Sorrow'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm chris:

We're all covered with bacteria. We don't all pee on our own legs.
Avatar 12:45pm MenfussMike:

Vultures do indeed relieve on themselves. That's how they cool themselves off.
  12:45pm Dean:

Big fan of Burgess Meredith.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm chris:

male goats also pee on themselves... makes them feel sexy, apparently
Avatar 12:46pm Listener dc 108581:

Vultures: last line of defense is puking on an attacker
Avatar 12:46pm Cecile:

I think that's a great adaptation for vultures. Nature's janitors!
Avatar 12:48pm Chris from DC:

Oh yes
Avatar 12:48pm Cecile:

I gotta remember that puking on an attacker trick.
Avatar 12:51pm Listener dc 108581:

I had a girlfriend who one time was getting a bunch of shit from some frat types (she was dressed pretty insanely) so she stuck her finger down her throat and puked. They ran away.
Avatar 12:51pm Cecile:

I always ask for Thin Lizzy at my Irish bar. First they laugh, and then they try and look some up on whatever thing they're using as a jukebox.
Avatar 12:52pm Listener dc 108581:

..not mrs. dc pat, by the way..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm joe:

@Cecile wow they don't even have Boys and Jailbreak?
Avatar 1:02pm Cecile:

No, it's pretty lame.
Avatar 1:04pm Cecile:

Pretty is consistent and perfect. Beautiful and striking have flaws.
  1:10pm Dean:

Lavoris ain't a half-bad band name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Stevel:

Years ago at the University of Wisconsin (1983 or so) a Moonie campus group was set up and preaching right-wing politics when one of the local hard-core kids came up and barfed on their main poster. Priceless.
Avatar 1:12pm Listener dc 108581:

Puking is pretty powerful stuff.
  1:13pm Dean:

Seems fitting for the comments thread: www.ratemyvomit.com

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Kat in Chicago:

I don't think "The Station That Is Like Being Hit In The Head With A Frying Pan If You're A Cat" is likely to catch on.
Avatar 1:35pm Listener dc 108581:

"WFMU - we drop an anvil on you and turn your whole body into an accordian"
Avatar 1:35pm Cecile:

"WFMU: Your head will eventually return to its natural shape"
Avatar 1:36pm Listener dc 108581:

  1:37pm Dean:

"WFMU - Woof, moo, meep-meep!"
Avatar 1:38pm Cecile:

WFMU, the ACME of culture.
Avatar 1:39pm Listener dc 108581:

shit, Cecile. I was trying to figure out how to work Acme in there...
Avatar 1:39pm V Priceless:

WFMU - The Acme of Free-From...haha hive mind
Avatar 1:39pm Cecile:

it works on more than one level!
Avatar 1:39pm Chris from DC:

Has there been a pint glass?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Kat in Chicago:

Maybe they want to avoid breakable swag.
Avatar 1:40pm V Priceless:

then again, I'm not sure Acme is a good comparison, taken in context...
  1:40pm P-90:

Or a shot glass?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm MattBelow:

@Chris from DC: We had a shot glass!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Caryn:

I'm so hoping the band name generator magnets can form the band name Hot Shame & the Electric Moccasins.

@P-90: plenty of shot glasses
Avatar 1:41pm Cecile:

ACME on the Road Runner was the definitive, perfect company to blow up the Coyote.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm MattBelow:

If you pledge or pledged a mouse pledge, you can get one from the prize warehouse or various other goodies from past 'thons
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Kat in Chicago:

*reviews playlist* Oh, that was Lecherous GAZE. I heard that as "Lecherous Gays" which is rather different.
Avatar 1:43pm V Priceless:

yes, except lots of their gear didn't function too well...
  1:44pm P-90:

The hip flask works fine. Stylish, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Caryn:

@Cecile: A final episode where Wile E. Coyote visited the ACME factory and found it staffed entirely by roadrunners in a clever coyote-eradication project would've blown kids' minds.
Avatar 1:44pm Cecile:

It functioned perfectly for annoying and injuring the Coyote.
Avatar 1:44pm Cecile:

Caryn, get out of my head! Exactly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Kat in Chicago:

@Caryn @Cecile someone needs to make that episode.
Avatar 1:45pm V Priceless:

interesting point, C
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Caryn:

I do wonder if I should get the Sporstsy Talk flask funnel just so I can more easily fill my WFMU flask from last year...
Avatar 1:46pm Cecile:

I have the "Singing Doctors" who wrote songs about cysts and colonoscopies and stuff in the early 60s to the tune of Broadway show tunes. Awful stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Kat in Chicago:

@Caryn I did! Nice swag synergy there.
Avatar 1:46pm Cecile:

Caryn, yes, yes you should.
My husband was talking about how he needed a flask funnel, and lo and behold!
  1:47pm P-90:

The record library could use more George Maharis
Avatar 1:48pm Cecile:

I bonded with a young barista over Red Fang who I'd just heard on the Fun Machine once.
  1:48pm Dean:

ICYMI, Coyote v. Acme: http://www.jamesfuqua.com/lawyers/jokes/coyote-acme.shtml
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Caryn:

@Kat & Cecile: I know, but then there are so many other premiums I want too. And which I'd probably use more often. I have to judge whether out of all the premiums, the flask funnel is more likely to be in the prize warehouse next year, and could thus be picked up as a warehouse item then, or whether that's another premium...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm JP from KC:

I want to camp out in the WFMU record library for like, a month. Hell, I'd settle for an hour!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm eyenoise:

Thanks for Ufomammut Diane! Continue with the basassery!
Avatar 1:52pm V Priceless:

track team stars, those AC guys
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Kat in Chicago:

@Caryn the premiums are so good this year, it's hard to choose.

HEY. Bad Brains are DC, dammit!
Avatar 2:07pm Listener dc 108581:

I know, I know...
Avatar 2:08pm Listener dc 108581:

Lots of groups release on cassettes now. Not sure if it's cheaper or what.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm MattBelow:

@listener dc: It's sometimes necessary these days for bands that want a quick turnaround on a non-CD product. Wait times for a 45 can exceed 6-9 months.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Heh, our family car was a '66 Impala hardtop (white and black vinyl top). It was my car during college and it worked out pretty well for me. I remember the 2-speed Hydromatic transmission.
Avatar 2:11pm Listener dc 108581:

ah, thanks @MattBelow, that explains it.
  2:11pm Marc15:

I talk to Hearty on Twitter. Hearty is my hero
Avatar 2:16pm Listener dc 108581:

Poor HR..
Avatar 2:16pm Cheri Pi:

Get better HR!
  2:17pm P-90:

@Ken FHP: that '66 Impala isn't still around by any chance? A collectible classic now if in decent condition...
Avatar 2:22pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

Pepe is in the House!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@P-90 - Alas, no. It was never garaged and was pretty rusty. Dad gave it away to some guy in 1986 or so.
Avatar 2:22pm Listener dc 108581:

I had a 67 Ford Fairlane, light blue. Thing kicked ass but it broke one too many times so I sold it to some dude he was good at fixing cars.
Avatar 2:22pm Diane Kamikaze:

  2:23pm Jan Impala:

Hi Diane and Hearty - Just Pledged AGAIN!! And yes, I had a '63 Impala in HS with an under dash 8 track tape player. I still have my 8 tracks but nothing to play them on. The 64 Impala SS that I have now still has its AM radio, but I am putting a decent stereo that I can do the whole modern audio stuff with it. That is if I can hear it over the headers and cherrybomb mufflers.....
Avatar 2:23pm Listener dc 108581:

I bought it from a real PA Dutch woman who only spoke German. Original owner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm joe:

Bad Brains did have that time period where they did take up a very long residency in NY and because of that much lije they did in DC they had such a huge part of NY scene.
Avatar 2:23pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

Pepe is Revolting in VA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

"Lidsville is the koo-koo-kookiest!"
Avatar 2:24pm Listener dc 108581:

..we in DC think of BB's as ours. They practically started the whole DC punk scene.
  2:26pm Jan Impala:

the ride that I had at Pratt in the early 80's was a 66 Malibu that I bought for $250. It had a six cylinder that drank a quart of oil every 30 miles,. It had a huge collection of early NYHC stickers on the back. It was kind of rusty, and I put a keg of beer through the trunk floor. When it rained, it rained inside the windshield
Avatar 2:27pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

The BBs Killed the old in NY and bloomed and nourished the New!! Now Mosh it!!
Avatar 2:27pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

and they are definitely DC Born and Banned!! :)
Avatar 2:27pm Cecile:

Scott Williams must be freaking out now.
Avatar 2:29pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

Pepe, storm trooping Jersey tonight!!! You ready Kazi!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

It's nice to have the comments boards available during the tributes. You could be alone in your room, but with the boards, you can have some connection with others who also appreciate the artists.
  2:37pm djelrock:

Nice tune
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Ike:

Wm. Berger did a pledge-themed parody of this song in the 80s and he dragged it out and played it last week. It was great!
