Options January 5, 2016: WARREN ELLIS (Dirty Three/Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds)
Warren Ellis joins Morricone Island to discuss his latest score for director Deniz Gamze Erguven's "Mustang," which depicts the life of orphaned sisters who face the challenges of a conservative society in a remote Turkish village living with their grandmother. The film has been nominated for a Golden Globe and selected as the French entry in the 88th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Best known as a member of Dirty Three, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Grinderman, Ellis has been composing film and theater scores since 1998, first with Dirty Three for John Curran's "Praise" and then from 2004 to the present with Nick Cave for such films as "The Proposition," "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," and "The Road." "Mustang" is Ellis's first feature length film score on his own. The soundtrack is available from Milan Records.
