No regularly scheduled meeting = listen live. Hi!
Avatar 12:03pm Dominick:

Nice remake
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Jeff Golick:

Love that "Rain" hook...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Gaylord Fields:

The beauty of that Cascades song is that the melody descends like rain.
Avatar 12:06pm Dominick:

Love Rubinoos!
Avatar 12:10pm KP:

Amanda Sunshine!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Gaylord Fields:

At the time of its release. the oh-so-'80s Steve Lillywhite production on Field Day bugged me nearly as much as it did MHC, but it's grown on me, unlike most other '80s-sounding production.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Amanda:

Y'all are too nice. Thank you for joining me today! @Gaylord -- I still can't super enjoy Field Day in its entirety but individual tracks are fun to listen to.

FYI everybody, the cat's name is unknown but the raccoon's name is "Banjo"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Gaylord Fields:

@Amanda: If you don't already have it, try to find the EP of "de-mixes" that MHC issued after all the criticism of Field Day's overly boomy sound (some of that emanating from him).
Avatar 12:24pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Amanda:

Good afternoon ndbob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm doctorjazz:

Hi-love this early Bee Gees stuff.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Amanda:

Bee Gees 1st is so gorge. Hey Ms Wolf!
Avatar 12:43pm KP:

The BeeGees are so epic.
  12:46pm johnk77:

in the bay area in the seventies
was pronounced
rube eh news
  12:50pm Matt:

I was gonna say that Bee Gees track sounded like Arthur Lee was singing.....never thought of the two together like that.
  12:53pm Sean:

I really want to hear Dick Johnson by Pussy Galore all of a sudden.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Amanda:

Ahhh, segue endorsement! Thank you, Matt.

@johnk77, thanks for that... I usually just fake that pronunciation so it sounds like it could be anything.
Avatar 12:56pm Roberto:

I love My Dick!
Avatar 12:56pm Dominick:

I had to stop eating.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Lizardner Dave:

Your dick's so far away?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Amanda:

Doesn't anybody stay in my dick anymore
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Matt F:

Back home with Skeeter. everything is cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Gaylord Fields:

Next you should play "I Feel The Earth Move Under My Dick."
  1:03pm Sean:

It's been how long since you have played My Dick? Damn, I can't last that long without playing My Dick.
  1:05pm Sean:

Because I am a child, I am laughing hysterically at my desk.
Avatar 1:06pm Roberto:

Yay for Skeeter!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Amanda:

Sean, that's fine but playing My Dick at your desk isn't recommended.
Avatar 1:10pm Roberto:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm doctorjazz:

Perked up my ears from the 1st notes of the Lucinda Williams...what a great album/track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Lizardner Dave:

Love this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Amanda:

I climb way up to the top of My Dick, and all my cares just drift off into space
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Amanda:

Happy to see so much love for that Lucinda.
Avatar 1:14pm northguineahills:

Ha, I loved this Zappa tune when I was a kid, and back then I had no idea who Zappa was....
Avatar 1:15pm Roberto:

I used to hang at the Galleria. Asteroids yo!
Avatar 1:15pm northguineahills:

My friend's older sister used to play it constantly.
Avatar 1:15pm Roberto:

It's also where I discovered falafel.
  1:16pm P-90:

This entire "Ship Arriving..." album has some of the best recorded and mixed bass playing ever, among many other admirable qualities...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I remember the "Valley Girl" song.
Avatar 1:17pm Roberto:

You can imagine how much airplay this got in the Valley when it came out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Gaylord Fields:

@Amanda: There Is My Dick That Never Goes Out
  1:19pm Sean:

Hey, I can see my house from atop My Dick!
  1:19pm MONEYBAG$:

The Swirlies are a good candidate for 'shoegaze my dick'
  1:21pm johnk77:

@roberto you are correct
kroq broke valley girl
Avatar 1:22pm Okasa:

Yeah, I started listening to Joe's Garage in high school, and found it "hi-larious". But as I grew, I found myself listening to more and more Zappa. He was a such a genius, and it is sad that he is largely remembered for the Valley Girl song…
Avatar 1:28pm northguineahills:

"celebrate good times..."

Al Gore: I will.
Avatar 1:34pm northguineahills:

turn off that get away music!
  1:36pm P-90:

One of the all-time episode titles
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Okasa - I miss Frank, too. Some years ago, before I found WFMU, a station here played a couple hours of Zappa for whatever reason. When they returned to their normal programming, I thought "Yeesh, what's this junk? It's so dull."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm doctorjazz:

Beautiful Duke/Strayhorn, nice show!
Avatar 1:46pm northguineahills:

Wow, haven't heard this George Lewis before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Amanda:

Solo trombone is pretty cool, say I.
  1:48pm P-90:

Yes, great version of "Lush Life"! And great fun listening to "Simpsons Time", as always. They'd really hit their stride by Season 6.
Avatar 1:48pm Okasa:

@Ken - The secret word for today is Mud Shark.
Avatar 1:51pm northguineahills:

Another fine program, thanks Amanda!
  1:52pm Dean:

Except for "Old Brown Shoes Don't Make It" and Cruisin' with Ruben & the Jets, I never got into Zappa. However, visiting a friend in CT every Memorial Day I was always treated to a public support radio station annual tribute to FZ. An utter joy.
Avatar 1:56pm ndbob:

excellent show Amanda!
  1:58pm marianne !:

Hi Amanda.... glad kitty is ok
  2:00pm P-90:

Thanks Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Amanda:
