Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm Amanda:

@Dominick Thank you so so much for the song!!! It is corrected. So does that mean it was not originally by Brinsley Schwarz? OMG DID PETER TORK WRITE LOVE SONG
Avatar 10:15pm Dominick:

Brinsley Shwarz relased Love Song in 1970.
IIRC Bill & Shannon recorded their version ca. 1972
Mr. Tork's contributions are still classified.

  10:48pm johnk77:

little bit of soul riff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Amanda:

I used to play Little Bit of Soul and then that song at DJ gigs. I thought I was a genius!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm chris_in_space:

That Third Floor Stangers tune from WGRQ Buffalo was great, but having grown up near Buffalo I didn't recognize those call letters. Looked it up. We all knew it as the might 97 Rock. Stations who hide their call letters–sheesh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I didn't do it!
  10:54pm craig nog:

Two weeks before announcing his retirement I asked Vin Scelsa to ID the unnamed pioneering WFMU staff in the photo the redesigned home page has been featuring today. Oh, well. They ought be remembered. Might Amanda consider assembling a similar collage of current FMU staff, as I've seen on her profile page, hmm?

Happy Chocolate Mousse Cake Day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm Amanda:

That's great about 97 Rock, chris! The cover actually has 97 ROCK emblazoned on it prominently :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

One scene from that episode I like is where Bart and Krusty are behind the studio after Bart flopped. Bart says "Life can be pretty cruel, huh Krusty?" and looking to share some sympathy. Right at that moment, the door just slams.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm Amanda:

@Ken so glad you brought that up, I DIE laughing at that. The timing = impeccable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm Amanda:

Hey coelacanth! Sorry for the delayed greeting! Jealous of your special day.

-Thanks for the digression. i need to know these things!
  11:36pm craig nog:

Like to hear you try "Riu Chiu."
"Daydream Believer" recorded with "Words" June 14, 1967; overdubs added August
  11:40pm JakeGould:

FWIW, I really liked the fact that the whole “Bart Gets Famous” episode was commenting on things like that whole “Do the Bartman!” and “Don’t Have a Cow!” era of the Simpsons. Back when they were meta.

And Homer’s “Can’t talk, I’m wearing a towel…” thing is right up there next to the time he ate all of the American cheese slices and simply said, “I think I’m blind.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm Amanda:

In that show they are meta in a pretty subtle way, which I appreciate. Definitely they are commenting on the bootleg T-shirt days (the box of merch even shows up at the end) but it is done quite subtly up to that point, just being about Bart as the I Didn't Do It boy. Similar to Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie when there's really no direct acknowledgement of the 4th wall until the very end when static interrupts the action.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I once had a bootleg "Rasta Dude Bart Marley" T-shirt, but I somehow lost it on vacation.
  11:49pm JakeGould:

@Ken: And those “Crack Kills” shirts with Bart in the ass-crack of some lady. Classic! The one I am most fascinated with is the whole world of Iraq war (1990s) bootleg Bart shirts where he’s hunting down Saddam Hussein. www.defunkd.com...
Avatar 11:56pm Jeff:

I'm so confused. Is my time sense that discombobulated? This isn't the usual Amanda time - I must be an an extended food-overdose hallucination.

I guess food-overdose hallucinations aren't that bad after all.
Avatar 11:57pm coelacanth:
