Live Performance by Spaghetti Eastern Music (Sal Cataldi)
New York-based guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Sal Cataldi creates charmingly off-center music as his alter-ego Spaghetti Eastern Music. Cataldi mashes up, as he describes it, "ambient soundtracks a la Morricone/Fripp and clavinet-singed funky from the P-Funk playbook, (topping) it off with acoustic ballads where smiley melodies camouflage bitter lyricism about broken love..." The resulting music is filled with musical references from Sal's "Smithsonian-Sized" record collection. Spaghetti Eastern Music gave a live performance on Irene's show.

Sweet looking apples.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Jake! They were tasty to eat, as well! (My other half and I went apple picking last Sunday.)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Hi Irene!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Bronwyn Bishop:

This is so pretty
  9:28pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hullo Hullo; into almost Pat Metheny territory here - kewl - I haven't been there in some time...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Bronwyn and Rev. Rabbit! Glad you're enjoying the tunes. Maybe I'll creep something by Pat in there a bit later on.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Beautiful bed music!
  9:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...you can get him all the time if want!: http://www.patmetheny.com/pmradio/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Do you have any plans for the apples? Pies, strudel, apple wine, etc.? I bake apple pies occasionally.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Bronwyn Bishop:

I love his band/artist name and his album name. This guy is great at naming stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Irene Trudel:

Ken, I think that's in the plans definitely. The bag is huge-- way more than we can eat individually. I'm open to suggestions too.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Anything Morricone-influenced is all right by me!
  9:51pm Bill:

Frank's Museum, yes! I was a fan and heard them many times at Lauderbach's and elsewhere. Glad to know Frank is doing well. Your new music sounds great
  9:54pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Steve Tibbetts on ECM, DADGADers...trying to keep up! :) ...
Avatar 9:59pm Van in DC:

Hi Irene. Hi everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Irene Trudel:

Lauterbach's! I was once in an acoustic Trio that played there a lot. Loved that place! Was the owner named Alice?
  10:11pm JakeGould:

Lauterbach's info: www.heresparkslope.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm coelacanth:

greetings Irene and others
  10:18pm MAC:

Sounds great tonight!
  10:22pm JakeGould:

“My family (uncle/cousins) operated Lauterbach's when it was just a neighborhood bar. This was back in the early 1950's. I just saw an article from Esquire magazine that it seemed to be a live, swinging place again. Anyone have any information?”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm coelacanth:

<2 seconds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm coelacanth:

...still, credit should be given.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm coelacanth:

(in any case- that was not a Bonham sample.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm Irene Trudel:

True, coelacanth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm coelacanth:

the box overfloweth.
Avatar 10:37pm Van in DC:

  10:55pm Mister Eddie:

My favorite Zappa acoustic
  10:57pm KP:

Sweet sounds tonight, Irene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm coelacanth:

when sleep dirt came out someone ( i think scott munie) on wnew fm played it and it wound up in a sound collage i made in 1980, just by chance. (i was still just courting wfmu)
i'm not super into Zappa but, nonetheless, nice piece!
...happy birthday Don Preston! (who's not on that album!)
  11:14pm KP:

The delay between my iPhone and the table radio is at just the right ratio tonight
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Irene Trudel:

KP, I'm assuming it has the perfect slap-back echo then. Sounds nice.
  11:22pm KP:

Right. Usually it's too much. Not tonight
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:33pm Summer and Michael:

Absolutely loved Spaghetti Eastern Music, wonderful set. As always, Irene, a show of majestic magnitude.
  8:18am Spaghetti Eastern Sal:

Tx for the kind and insightful comments folks, and to Irene for having such open ears/taste and being the best live engineer in the biz. Yep not exactly Bonham sample just an approx laid over a beat I built. Anyone who wants to write me direct can reach me at spaghettieasternmusic@cataldipr.com
  10:42am Spaghetti Eastern Sal:

Per our chat Irene, a wonderful little video of Steve Tibbets performing Hendrix's Villanova Junction, the final little jazzy blues Hendrix did to close his Woodstock set. Must see: https://youtu.be/NTNImbkQkow
